I'm close to ordreing a GT finally. What is a realistic wait time for an order? The three dealers I have talked with tell me 6-8 weeks, 8-10 weeks, and 10-12 weeks.

well it depends on where you live and the allocation of your dealers supply.

I live in the Seattle area, ordered in early Jan., didnt make the 05 pull and changed to 06 in late june, my GT was supposed to show up last week but ford says there is a rail car shortage and to expect the car in two more weeks!!!

I swear I must have the oldest un-filled order on this board!!
oh well, I am sure it will be quite worth the wait when it finally gets here.

If you live in the south you should have no problems.but if you live in the northeast or somewhere in the middle ,I would just look on dealers lots because you will be changing your order to a 2007 when june comes around..Trust me ford are only making a tad more of Gt for 2006.Go lok on dealer lots all you see are V6s.Jt

All three dealers you talked to could have different allocations. I do not think that the 6-8 weeks is too realistic righ now though as there are only 3 build weeks in Dec and the plants close for 2 weeks for the holidays.

We had been turning GT's pretty quickly but my order bank is not set with sold GT's for the next few months so right now I would be 4 months or so out.

You are one of the Few that can get the Gts...So 4 months would be around Early march....But most other dealers you might get the car by Summer if you are lucky .....Why buy the car in June Or July when the 2007s are coming out in Aug 07?

if your order winds up in the spring timeframe and you 'switch' to an '07, do you lose your space in line and now need to get at the end of the line or do you retain the same pecking order? (not speaking of allocations, etc., etc.).

Why be on line witha order?,,,go shop around for the best deal now...
I am sure you can get a GT at under sticker if you look abit.
You will see when June 2006 rolls around many people will complain that they had orders in early Oct or Nov and they are still waiting,So no tears from me because they were to lazy to go shopping and looking abit...Most dealers will be happy to take your order and say 8-12 weeks, and if it does not come in the dealer does not care because he has your money......99% of the dealers will take your money and you will have to reorder it in June 2006 as a 2007.But the are very Few that can get you a GT with no problems down in Florida ,Texas Calif. There are a few on this site that can get yea a GT or go on EBAY and pay sticker and you will have no headachs.JT

i was curious what happens when your order is not fulfilled and the next yr model goes into production. what happens to the pecking order? personally, finally, this time around i have gotten beyond c/u (check sig) but that did not come without a learning curve of not waiting months before moving on. i'm pretty much down to only waiting a few weeks before moving on to someone else...this time around, when i got the 'we want to earn your business' - i said prove it! (have never bought a ford before). i have already spoken to ed (isellford - he IS the greatest!) off-forum about my plan b and getting a car off of someone's lot. unfortunately, i didn't come across ed until after this last deposit and order. so we'll see what happens. but still wondering what happens to the pecking order when the new models come out. can anybody with experience answer this? thanks in advance.

as I heard the dealer will have a very good idea if they will not be able to get the2006 Stang Gt as you want by that time, and they will ask you would you like to change over to a 2007 Gt sometime in June. And they will put yea back onto a 2007 Dora for a 2007 GT but then again you might not get a 2007 Stang Gt untill sometime in 2007 if you are lucky as most dealers still will have problems with getting them.
If you are smart go to one of the good people that sell Gts on this site or go to Ebay or shop around on Dealers Lots....
Its a waste of time Ordering a stang Gt from most dealers and like I said you can get a good deal if you wanttttt to shop around and not be lazy.....
And please when June 2006 rolls around we don't want to hear yea cry about not getting a 2006 GT when you had all the chances in the world in getting one as of now..Got mine on a lot in quakertown at Invoice in Pa......JohnnyT

A little over a year ago...October 20 2004...I talked to two dealers about ordering my 05 Mustang GT. The first dealer said I would be waiting ONE YEAR for the car, while the second dealer told me eight weeks so I ordered from him, and I picked up the car on December 28.
If I had shopped around and picked up my new GT instead of waiting for a special order? Sure I could have done that...and paid $5000 over MSRP. In my case I was happy to wait for my car since the dealer sold me the car at X-Plan.

Apparantly, my car was built the first week of Sept... I am still waiting for delivery... when i search other dealer inventory, all of the local dealerships have mostly Automatics...

Is there some sort of hold on manual GTs? I cant believe Ive waited this long... (id go with someone else, but Im so close, I dont wanna miss my chance and the car I dream about)
ordered from Prestige Ford in Garland, Tx..

EDIT: I guess this thread shed some light on it... http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index.php?showtopic=37063

waiting makes baby jesus cry... oh well.. itll be worth it..

I would still be waiting for my 06 stang Gt at X-Plan since June.
I am glad I looked around abit and found a Gt at Invoice...
If i didnot get the car at Invoice I would still stay with the dealer I had and maybe not ever seeing the car.
If anyone ordering a Gt at Sticker I would look around and sure you can find one without paying over sticker. But I ratter find a Big Dealer with lots of allocations on X-pLan unless you can get lucky at a smal dealer.JohnnyT
