1) put in an 87 tune
2) Retard the timing by 4 degress on 91 tune
3) Put in a HIGH octane booster.
ANd which ever option you choose. Stay under 3000 rpm and accelerate slowly.
THen fill up with the highest octane you can get.

well, I had less than a quarter tank of 91 and then put in 87 (less than 2 dollars worth) and then immediately stopped and filled up w/ 91 again. If I change the tune, how long will I know to run the 87 and switch back to 91? thanks for the quick responses...

I wouldn't even switch the tune personally. If you only put $2 worth, that is under 1 gallon. That would make the average octane rating of your tank like 90.7 or something. Don't worry about it. If you hear some knocking, just back off the throttle a little. Once you fill it back up it will be good as new.

Dude, you're fine. Even if you filled the entire tank with 87, worst case scenario: the computer would compensate timing for you, thus losing a few (10ish) hp. 39/40ths of your tank is filled with the right caliber dino juice. Worst case scenario: nothing will happen.

The timing adjustment may or may not take place with an aftermarket tune. It depends on the diligence of the tuner. But you could always compensate with your right foot if you DID get pinging. As stated, the amount is so small it's an absolute non-issue.

Youll be fine, 2 dollars of gas wont change anything. Besides how accurate do you think some of these octane rating figures are coming from the gas stations. Im sure they play around a hair too. This is a sick world my friend.

Your fine...just stay out of WOT until you use the gas

Well check that... $2 worth didnt lower that much at all... dont go crazy with the car just in case... but really there are no worries
