buy a battery tender and leave it connected for years if you like and it will always be 100% charged..

Short answer NO.

If you leave a Charger (even 2amp) on for a long time period it will overcharge and destroy
the Battery.

Follow flyingn's advise and get a Battery Tender.
They automatically keep the Battery at optimum Charge.

Buy a Black and Decker maintainer from Walmart for about $20.

During storage, I normally hook my battery up to my charger about once a month and leave it on for about 2 days, and then so on and so forth...has worked for me.

better to buy a maintainer charger like all the ones listed. i personally use the battery tender on my motorcycle, i drive my stang enough through the year. but also, for true storage, just take the battery out of the car. leave it on a piece of cardboard on the floor connected to a tender.

My battery charger will kick off once the battery is full it will also kick back on when needed. Most battery chargers I have seen will do that.

Most battery chargers unless they are high end industrial types have current limiting circuits built in. I have left mine on for 3-4 days with no problems.

I have a tender..but never used it.

My battery was unconnected from end of Nov till this monday.
Was still showing 12.4v @72% charge
(and this is in a non-heated garage in some pretty cool weather)

Car cranked one shot like it was never touched.

But yes it should float and not overcharge the battery (just double check the package it'll say)
