ok to leave the battery hooked to a 2 amp charge?

Short answer NO.
If you leave a Charger (even 2amp) on for a long time period it will overcharge and destroy
the Battery.
Follow flyingn's advise and get a Battery Tender.
They automatically keep the Battery at optimum Charge.

better to buy a maintainer charger like all the ones listed. i personally use the battery tender on my motorcycle, i drive my stang enough through the year. but also, for true storage, just take the battery out of the car. leave it on a piece of cardboard on the floor connected to a tender.

I have a tender..but never used it.
My battery was unconnected from end of Nov till this monday.
Was still showing 12.4v @72% charge
(and this is in a non-heated garage in some pretty cool weather)
Car cranked one shot like it was never touched.
But yes it should float and not overcharge the battery (just double check the package it'll say)
