I've installed air intakes, exhaust, and shifters in my car but it came time to change oil the other day. So I put my 5 quarts of Mobil 1 in...and it was still low.

So here is my question: How many quarts does the 3 valve take? I only ask to make sure it isn't 5 1/2 instead of 6.

The owners manual says 6 qts. with filter change. Some people have stated that it took 6.5 qts. to reach to full mark on the dipstick but I'd put in no less than the amount specified in the manual.

Beau....it is exactly 6.25 qts with a filter change. I had the service people exact measure it for me, and I verified it myself on the dipstick as well

First oil change done at dealer where I bought the car and the tech told me 6.5 quarts is what his spec sheet called for and that's what it took to reach full on dip stick with filter change.

I have the dealer change my oil, I bought a 6 year service contract, and it always says 6.5 quarts.

I believe it is exactly 6 liters of oil. I know - I know - where do you buy oil by the liter in the USA?

A Liter is a LITER (little) bit more than a quart. It works out to be roughly 6.4 quarts - I put in 6 and call it good..
