I'm sure it is to cover the supercharger, but, I too hope it is a 5.4 under there.

That's the Cobra. Roush is building the Cobra.
Is that fact or speculation? Do you know for sure Roush is building it. I assume you are talking about them building the prototypes. [/b][/quote]
I'm sure he means prototypes. Roush does a lot of engineering work for Ford. I'm sure they're playing a role in Cobra development.

I agree with the folks who think this is more likely a Cobra mule than a Mach-1 mule. The reason? That "raised" cover on the hood would not do much to improve clearance on a n/a 5.4L when you take into consideration the forward facing intake on the new GT's motor.

It could be argued that this is in place of a shaker, which would take up no more area than this odd-looking bulge does. But then you have to ask where is the air coming from for this car now? You either have to have a hose affixed to get air in, or a hole in that bulge to do what the shaker is intended to. Again, there is no hole in that bulge and no room for an inlet tube. look at the picture below, reference where the front of that bulge above stops compared to the intake-hose route in the pic below, and you can see why the bulge would not appear to make sense for a tall-deck n/a car.

That said, the hood bulge on the car above would appear to perfectly cover a side or rear-inlet, twin-screw supercharger. Just my .02.

I've seen it on other posts and wondered. I just didn't want to ask before, but, the curiousity has gotten the best of me.

Yep, it's the Cobra. If you read the "Rumour Mill" forums, the earlier pic of this (behind Phil Martens) was proved to be a Cobra mule.

Nice work Amy!!

The "buldge" could be any sort of scoop/shaker. That buldge looks more like a cover to hide the real deal, and to fuel sites like this...

I completely agree, that's what I thought when I saw it. I sure hope that's not what the hood looks like, that would be ugly.

Nothing too exciting here. All you are seeing is a powertrain test vehicle. I could have photoshopped a image to resemble the same thing months ago.

I dont think they would bother putting a hoodscoop/shaker on a test mule let alone try and hide one. I would say this is more for function than to hide anything.

Seems to me it's more of a "bulge" so they can fit a larger engine and/or supercharger in there!

Yeah, but what kind of powertrain? That's the intriguing part, not the pic itself.
