No 2005 Convertible

I had a dealer trying to sell me a 05 Stang over the internet. I told him I had pre-ordered a 05 GT Convertible. He wrote back saying his Grandfather owned a Ford Dealership(the salesman worked at a Lincoln/Mercury dealer). I told him I pre-ordered at $500 over invoice. He said he could get it for me for invoice. I then asked him if he was aware I ordered a Convertible. He emailed back saying if I ordered a Convertible it would be a 2006 model and I would be taking delivery in about a year. Ford was not making a 2005 Convertible. :notnice: Sheesh, people need to do some research before they start giving out false information. Needless to say I corrected him and told him I would not be buying anything from him, and that I had a DORA in my hand for a 2005 GT Convertible, but thanks for your time. I haven't heard back yet. This kind of stuff just amazes me in this information age, when its so easy to find this stuff. Either make a call or look it up on the internet.

Hey Jeff, it's Jeff Greenly from Yocum Ford in Pa. We spole over the phone about getting your vert ordered several months back. I still can't believe that there are dealers and salespeople out there that do not know anything in regards to what they sell. You made the right choice by standing that salesperson up with your DORA. Shame on him for not knowing anything. That dealer too needs a Hope to see pix of your new vert once you take delivery. Have a great New Year, and thank you very much for your nice compliment you posted in my post in the salesman section of the forum.

Jeff you are Welcome, I always look for your posts because I know they will have good info. Thanks
Here's my most recent response from the above salesman. He still seems a little confused.
Jeff, I do apologize, you are correct. It has been sometime since I have been at the Ford store. The last time I spoke to the regional vice president, he said there would be no convertible for 2005. Since that time, there has been a change. I was unaware of the change. I can now order a 2005 convertible, however, I do not know how much it will cost. I am unsure when I will have pricing information on that vehicle. I apologize for any confusion on my part. I do hope you will enjoy your new Mustang. Have a wonderful day and a happy new year. He obviously wasn't driving down I-75 yesterday.
I actually saw one. I was heading south on I-75 between Knoxville and Chattanooga, met a redfire 05 vert with parchment top.
I know I know... where are the pics.... Well, I was doing about 80 southbound, and he was doing at least 70 northbound. No chance for a pic, but I saw it!

I had a salesman try telling me that Ford stopped making the 05 for a few months. He wasn't even a Ford salesman, he worked on a used car lot. What an idiot.

Oh sorry that red convertible gt is not coming out until next year. But we have a nice selection of green v6 coupes. By the way did I mention green has the highest resale value???.... lol

Must be an NC thing.
Guy at the Cary dealer told me no convertible too.
"Dude, you *WORK* at a Ford dealership!"
'You sell them for a living!"
"It's almost time to start selling them! Shouldn't you know they exist?"
Anyhoo, got my coupe. Love it.
Still got the 92 'vert. It's ok. B)
