Anyone know why there is a NJ Surcharge on the Mustang? It is on my VOC for $157.00 - anyone know why?

Plus you still have about the cheapest gas in the country.

Probably the whiny quasi-socialists in our state are mad you bought something fast, individualistic, and masculine. :P

On a side note, I checked my bill of sale and did not see any NJ surcharge of any sort on it. Perhaps the dealer wanted a quick buck??

On another side note.... if only the rest of the country truly knew how BORING NJ was... just a lot of yuppies, bennies (upper class tourists from Nothern NJ who visit the shore and have no manners), and stuck-up chicks.

Thank the Lord for the south! Alabama may have lots of crappy points, but its very cheap to live very well here.

I hear you on Ct. You couldn't pay me to live there. My MIL lives there and is plotting her escape for that exact reason- too much tax.

What about the silly $7.50 tax on new tires (2.50 per tire, yes even the donut) they charge?

Hey I am from Northern NJ and I am far from being a upper class tourists! Though I know what you mean. Alot of these people have been coming from the city. That is why I head north to dem hills during the summer.

Well, I am from northern NJ originally, so i can attest to the attitude. There is Bergen County, and there is the rest of you people in "south jersey". Also, what is interesting, is most of the people that knock NJ, couldn't afford to live there. I can not wait to move back.

There's another subculture, SVTJay... I went to St. Rose high school in Belmar on a scholarship, and I found there's this very rich culture of snobby elitists who live on the shore in towns like Spring Lake, Avon By the Sea, Belmar, Bradley Beach, etc. God I couldn't stand them. 15 year old kids with $500 in their bulging wallets and nothing else to blow it on but weed and Phish CDs.

Anyway, not all Northern NJers are bad, but there are enough that come to the shore in the summer time to overshadow the polite ones...

I like living NJ, it's just all these little things that really pile up and sour the whole experience. To give you a heads up, Point Pleasant (Jenkinson's Boardwalk) is slowly turning into a Seaside Park. Seaside Park is turning into another Newark, property tax is going up and up, along with the prices of almost everything, especially by the shore. New ridiculous taxes are being proposed. Our emissions regualtions are striving for CA levels.

We had a severely violent riot at Six Flags Great Adventure this Fright Fest - I do stuntwork there seasonally for their annual Fright Fest for fun. I was almost killed, no joke. They had police from over 16 municipalities and two police helicopters in the parking lot. There were cops in riot gear locking down the park. There was a subsequent related shooting at the nearby McDonald's that night. SFGA denied anything serious happened, but I know better. So do many other SFGA workers. 220 police officers in riot gear were not there for free doughnuts. I know I won't be returning next year. I don't find having to defend myself from a crazed mob a "fun-filled" experience, and I implore anyone within driving distance not attend that park. Its become a very dangerous place, and the park does not employ an adaquete security team to handle the crowds.

You're going to be real surprised at how many more "wiggers" and "thugs" are hanging around once family-oriented areas. While all this is happening to the middle class/upper middle class areas, the upper class/wealthy areas are growing more and more secluded.

I wish I could figure out what's actually happening to NJ... all I know is that it's bad. It was much nicer place to live 10 or 15 years ago. Its really gone downhill. Sorry for the rant.

Wow, not only do they charge the tax, they shorted you on tires! 2.50 x 5 = 12.50.

Been in S. FL 30 years and have seen it change for the worse. About the only thing that remains the same is the weather. IMO you have to be rich to get to the better places.

The charge was probably from the dealer for DMV related expenses.

I grew up in Northeast NJ. I now live near Philly in NJ. I will take this part of the state over the rest of it any day of the week.

Now, was that really called for?

I wouldn't want to move to Alabama, but I wouldn't put it like "you couldn't pay me to live there." I'm sure Bammy is fine for you, just like CT is fine for me... I mean there are good things here - the beach, driving distance to NYC/Broadway or Boston, ... And yes, you can get a Mustang here (without a CT surcharge). B)

I didn't mean to put it down (I'm sorry). I think the whole state is frigging beautiful. The scenery is second to none. I love to visit there! I just couldn't handle the cold weather, I was there for 8 days and froze my cookies off the entire time.
Alabama has good weather......and its easy to live well here, and its close to the Gulf. That's about it. The rest of it blows. My ideal place of residence is Charlotte Nc.

Hey - Why is everyone putting down The Garden State? I think it is great living here! Sure, you can't buy a house for under 500K - Northen NJ girls are stuck up, and the South NJ girls are dumb and easy (yes, I lived in both parts of NJ - back up north now).

HOWEVER - I will put Island Beach State Park up against ANY beach in the world!!! Pizza is the best here, and you're a eye shot away from NYC.
Sports - does it get any better -
New York Yankees - 26 Championships - NJ Devils 3 Cups in 9 years!!! (and we have the best fans in the country).
3 Hockey teams - 2 Baseball teams - 2 Basketball - 2 Football - all within 1 hour!

You should be proud to live here - I am !!!
