Well, I did it. I took the plunge and put a down payment on a sonic blue V6 premium vert. I should arrive within the week. Woo Hoo!!!!!!

Ok, my question. The car comes with the standard passive anti-theft system. The dealer asked me if I wanted an additional security system (I can't remember what he called it). Basically, it prevented anyone from scanning the frequencies to try to find the one that would unlock my car. If it detected that someone was scanning, it would shut down the whole system and the car would not start for a period of time. It was a $400 add on. I've never heard of this before and didn't really think it was needed. What do you guys think?

By the way, you guys & gals on here are awesome!!!! I've done quite a bit of research here just searching through forums and have asked several questions and gotten great responses. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2005 Mustang has an optional Active Anti-theft system but I don't believe it has any kind of the scanning functionality that your dealer described to you. Basically the active-anti theft system is an alarm that has motion detectors inside the car and it detects changes in incline (to prevent your car from being towed for instance). Perhaps the system your dealer was describing is some sort of aftermarket system

I went with Lojack, but with the ragtop I think some sort of system that senses changes in the interior would be a wise choice.
