It would be a BOSS 5.0 (its all Liters these days thanks to some sorta agreement due to the feds, insurance companies, or a deal with the devil - you decide), but they could always lie about thew output and say it produced 302 HP and make it a BOSS 302 wink, wink

I think it awesome that Saleen still "thinks American" with "American quantities".
For some strange reason I feel that this is in order???

I prefer the blue car at the top of this thread. As much as I would like to have an 06 Cobra or Shelby, I can't justify paying $40K+ to get one (probably more like $50K w/"additional dealer markup"). I really like the styling of the Saleen, but come on....$42K for 325 HP? Try finding a dealer willing to deal on one of those - it just doesn't happen.
The Mach, Boss or Bullet SE with at least 350 HP and a sub $35K price would move me to make the purchase. Which ever model Ford chooses, it has to have the Shaker hood, or the deals off....

For me, it is about the history and the look. I have always really liked the 69-70 Machs with that hood. It was unique then, and still is today. The shaker plus the flat black stripes make it different enough to stand out in a crowd and take notice. With all the customization going on in the auto industry today, it's nice to see a scoop that is functional. I can't think of any recent car with a functional scoop that looked that good. If Ford doesn't include the scoop, I would be willing to go aftermarket for it.

You have to have a shaker to make the deal? Why? They look cool, but, don't really add to the power or handling or driving experience. You could always add one aftermarket if you wanted one that bad.

I'll agree B)

Just like the one in your pic is nothing less than tempting. That exact color would be terrific. I'll wait for the '08 MY for a possible Bullitt. If it does not materialize I'll settle for a Cobra or the top performermer available.

Settle for a cobra........LMAO, who "settles" for a 40k dollar car.

I'm waiting more for a latter-day Boss 302 / Shelbe GT350 type Stang, one that emphasizes overall performance rather than simple off-the-line acceleration, which tended to be the Mach I's forte. My dream Stang would turn and stop real world roads as well as go forward. My wish list:
Clean exterior styling with the GT-R type nose
Uprated (Brembo?) brakes
Uprated sport suspension with IRS
Big, sticky tires
DOHC 4.6/5.0 with 375-400hp
Tight 6 spd MTX
Sport seats (Recaros?)
Better intruments (more legible)
HIDs
A flashy, big motor Mach I would be great for the drag queens living the performance life in 1/4 mile spurts on the straight and narrow, but us road rats want a subtle but swift back road weapon to hunt down and dispatch M3s, EVOs, STis, and Boxsters, where ever they are hiding.
$30K or so ought to get you the above spec sheet.

I really like the shaker as well. I just wondered why it would break the deal. To me the car is about driving experience. Shaker adds to that from the nostalgia standpoint, but, doesn't really make it faster or handle better. I agree, I would love to have one, but, not having one wouldn't stop me if the car is otherwise incredible.
I agree about the shaker hood, with today's FI motors, they're about as worthless as breasts on a nun. Clever, well thought out references to the Mustang's rich past is fine --up to a point, but trying to recreate it whole through some sort of Rube Goldberg shaker hood ends up looking pretty goofy in the end. Nothing sadder than somebody, or some car, trying to relive their past.
Look at that awkward bump on a lump on a bulge oddity that the shaker hood ended up being on the '03-'03 Mach I, a rather ungainly reproduction that basically looked like the force-fit onto the SN-95 engine/body that it was. But at least this chimera of 1960s and 21st century engineering gained probably a whole 1/2 an extra hp for all that weight, complexity and expense and got to gape at the thing wiggling away when you hit the gas. But that rear spoiler probably ate up that 1/2 hp anyway lest it be felt to be a bit too overwhelming.
Better to take up the under hood space above the motor with some big, rifle-straight intake runners than some overwraught attempt to recreate some past muscle-car glory. Let's, rather, create some new, modern day glory through the best current engineering and design. Keep the Mustang DNA for sure, but let it evolve rather than creating a muscle-car Jurassic Park
