I don't think Ford can make a Boss, doesn't Shinoda own the rights to that name?

I am a Cobra owner, but I'm loving Mach1's so much i may convert. lol Maybe i can sell a Kidney or two and get both a Cobra and Mach1. Course i'd have to wear a diaper from now on while driving in those two cars. heh.

 

That's not quite correct. Ford owns "Boss 302" and Shinoda owns "Shinoda Boss" and the name "Boss" is jointly owned by both. I believe Ford owns "Boss 429" and "Boss 351" but I'm not 100% sure of that.

That's my understanding of the situation. If you search the forum for "boss" and "name", you'll find a multi-page thread about it. Someone actually posted the records from the US trademark office showing that Ford owned it. You'll problably need to search back several months.

They could make a BOSS 281 if that's the engine that they want to put in it.... but wouldn't that be fun if they made a 3V version of the 5.0 Cammer.... tune it down a little (c'mon... I'm only being realistic), but a SOHC 3V head and turn out 390HP... Then they could still have a BOSS 302. I'd buy that for a dollar.

But.... I'd be coo with a 375HP Mach 1 with a 5.4L too.... whichever SE they come out with... hopefully late this year, I'm all over it.

 

It would be a BOSS 5.0 (its all Liters these days thanks to some sorta agreement due to the feds, insurance companies, or a deal with the devil - you decide), but they could always lie about thew output and say it produced 302 HP and make it a BOSS 302 wink, wink

 

Unless a Mach is suddenly announced for '06 I won't have the strength of will to wait for it. A 300 hp GT is gonna have to do it for me.

 

I love the Mach's, but I can hold off for a few years if it gives Ford time to perfect the Fairlane...COUPE!!!V8...RWD...muscle car not minivan replacement!!!.

 

Definitely waitin' for the Mach, but would anybody like to see a Bullitt? Can somebody hook a bullitt in photoshop to give us a vision?

what i don't get is why would they make such a retro car and not off the original special option packages???? it like building a race car and having a squirrel power it..
