I hope not to sound redundant, but I'm curious as to how many of you have been dreaming of a Mach 1 to come within the next few years. I'd love to hear input from everyone else

Edit by Scothew: Picture listed removed and added the origional picture which shows artist name/date to give proper credit. Please do not do this again.

Just like the one in your pic is nothing less than tempting. That exact color would be terrific. I'll wait for the '08 MY for a possible Bullitt. If it does not materialize I'll settle for a Cobra or the top performermer available.

Yes I am but rather than wait for something not yet announced I am planning on turning my 05 into a sumular version. Kind of combining the Mach 1 look with the Boss look. I call it "the legend". Its a work in progress over this winter.

Hmmm, I would actually rather have something like a Boss 329 with an aluminum 5.4 and IRS. They just did the Mach, let's have something different.

JMHO.

I'll just buy the hood if I like it. My engine should have plenty of horsepower.

I do like the first picture, but the second one is a little more to my tastes....I'd have to think about running out and selling a child for that car....

Anyone want a teenager, cheap?

Both of those look great! I have never owned a modern Stang (I have owned a 65, 2-66's & a 68), but I would buy a new Mach in a heartbeat. I am a stinker for the new "retro" look. As much as I would love to have one of the upcoming Cobras, Shelbys or Saleens, I think cost of entry will be too high. If Ford builds something like the photos above and prices it in the low $30s, they will have my attention.

I love previous gen mach 1's but with shelby signed up and the cobra coming I wonder where it could fit in the market?

In 03/04 there was a bit of a void between the gt and the cobra. When the new cobra comes out I think that void will be filled by a shelby.

I dont really car what the new special models are called though, but it seems like a great time to be a mustang fan.

Dreaming, praying, saving, commiting pagan acts, etc.

5.4 3v - 350 to 375 hp with a like amount of torque or better (if you punched a 4.6 out to 5.4 and all things being the same it would be 350 hp - 375 ft/lbs.)

6 spd manual - make the 5 forward gears all about accelration and 6th for putting along - top speed will be limited so why not hit that limiter in record time.

3.55 gears are okay as long as its got a nice deep fat torque curve with an LRA (Machs were all about drag racing in luxury) and no namby pamby IRS

Shaker hood with a nice set of strips calling out 5.4 liters of ford fury,

GTR grille - dump the flood lights and put them down below were they belong and no corral and pony, just open grilll - and whille their at it no mustang at all, just glorious Mach 1 emblems.

Ducktail along with a nice honeycomb insert between the tail lights

18x9 inch wheels sporting 275's

Hopefully Ford doesn't follow the same time line for special editions as they did with the 99 body style, i.e.

New model 1999/2005
Bullitt 2001/2007
Mach 2003/2009

That would be way too long to wait.

bob, that sounds good, but i think the Mach would look better w/ a flat black spoiler, 'stead of a tail. the tail should be on a Shelby or sumthin, IMO. but hey thats me

Oh I dont know, gives me more time to save money... I'd love to finance 10 or 15k rather than 25.

I'm hoping for an 07 model, but if it comes out as a 1 year special in 06 and I miss it, I guess I'll keep on saving till something better comes along. I dont want a used Mach, I want a new one.
