The last few times I've started up my car I hear this horrible rattle, like something is loose. It only happens when the car is started up and when I'm applying the slightest bit of gas. It seems to go away after a minute or so.
Any ideas?

Nichole - I noticed something similar a little while back - like a metaalic ticking or rattle after start up and when gas was depressed - could really hear it when the car was started and in the garage....

But it went away....

Thought about it later and it started right AFTER driving though my frist big rain storm down here.....

Eventually I realized it disapeared on its own....

I noticed Burke you have the 5 speed, and I don't know about you Nichole, but with the 5-speeds for some reason the beautiful quality is number one workers did not place 2 bolts in the heat shield . With these 2 bolts missing it causes this pingy rattle sound, and only when it's cold. Take it to the Ford dealer or D.I.Y. for quicker results. Hope this helps

Thanks, I do have a 5 speed. I don't know if when you say "it's cold" you mean when the car is cold or when it's cold outside. It's been warm here lately and seems to only happen after the car has been sitting for awhile. I'll have my father replace the bolts, he's the only one that touches my car, unless it's a TSB/recall.

Nice car, BTW

Looks really clean with the yellow, and dark tint.

Out of "4" bolts that hold your Inspection cover on your manual trans "2" lower ones are missing right from the factory .As far as I can tell this is for any early build mustang but it is best to go have a look just to see.Its one of the first things I checked when i picked up my car .I don't know if you can see this in the picture of mine but if you look closely at the lower inspection cover for the trans you can see the 2 bottoms ones missing ....and as far as I know there is no TSB yet.

Nope, there isn't, but the dealer or yourself can fix it within 5 mins. Smple bolt install, I did it myself.
