New to me 08 Mustang GT Tune question
Just bought an 08 GT bone stock manual with 84000 miles on it. Ive been looking for sometime now for a 05-09 not ragged out with somewhat low mileage which has been very hard to find for the money I was willing to spend. I have always loved the 05-09 with the 4.6. My last car was an 07 Vert GT automatic that I have missed since I sold her so I decided it was time to get another one. My question for you guys is does a tune really help a manual that much? I had a Bama tune on my last car that I was pretty happy with but again it was a automatic. This is the 1st manual I've owned and wasnt sure if a tune was worth it or not. I have the 3.31 rear end that I actaully like and dont plan on changing it out as I do a fair share of interstate driving. I dont want to get crazy with the car or race it, just looking for a little fun.
I think what Dave means is that the tune really helped the automatic due to the change in the way it shifted. A lot more snappier. It got-up-and gone instantly compared to how it was stock. Stock felt slow and sluggish. And I had always wondered if a manual really saw much benefit from a tune since you do all the shifting yourself. Cause really, would you notice 15+ more horsepower?
BUT... to answer your question dave, a few years ago I was at an autocross event. There was another guy with an '06 GT just like mine, only manual. I told him that I did a CAI and Tune on mine. 2 week later he came back and said he did the same CAI and Tune as me, and INSTANTLY noticed a difference. Said it was much funner to drive.

My experience with a Bama tune on my 2010 manual was that I could hardly tell the difference, other than the exaggerated throttle response. Dyno showed about 5 HP and 5 TQ improvement. The dyno guy actually thought this was pretty good, but you need a very sensitive but dyno to feel it. However the 2010 has a more aggressive tune from the factory, that will take advantage of 93 octane gas, so the improvement on the 2008 might be a bit more noticeable.

The point being more gofast, right? Right! So if you want it, get it!
