New fuel sending unit help
New fuel sending unit help
Like many others my fuel sending unit has been on the fritz for the past year or so. Latley it was getting so bad it would throw the error once or twice on my 30 minute commute to work.
Using a bottle of Techron no longer seemed to help so I decided to pick up a new sending unit.
The new units have a ground on it as well so I installed everything and hooked the ground wire up to the same screw which holds the sending unit onto the fuel pump. There was another wire attached to that screw as well that looked to be a ground wire.
With everything back in place I started the car and the fuel needle pegs at full (it should have been about 3/4 full) then after about 30 seconds throws the error code.
Now this was just replacing the unit on the drivers side. I didn't do the passenger side since I couldn't get the first side to work right.
I eneded up just throwing the old sending unit back in at it worked fine.
Any suggestions on what could be the issue?
Thanks,
Erick
