I saw an Orange '04 Convert. yesterday, with Temp tags that expire a week after mine, and the driver's tongue was hanging out looking at my '05 Redfire. I thought to myself, "awww.....you should have upgraded."

With all due respect to the last generation stang (I had two of them; a '99 GT and an '02 GT), the '05 is a far superior vehicle in almost every facet. I still had my '02 GT for about a week after I bought my '05 GT. Switching between the two cars during that week was like shell-shock. IMO the '05 wins out in looks (exterior and interior), refinement, comfort, everyday driveability and performance.

It comes down to how important the $6,000 or so difference between the price of the '04 and '05 is to you.

The only way I would get the '04 would be if I could get both...if there is a choice involved, the'05 all the way...

If you have the coin, go for the '05 as it is such a superior overall car and, I think, give you a much more positive overall experience. And isn't that the whole point in buying any Stang anyway?

I imagine Ford dealers will soon be forced to give away their old '04 stock as free door prizes to move them off the lot.

I would have to say - only get the '04 if you just can't swing the '05 financially, or if you just gotta have a vert RIGHT NOW.

Otherwise, '05 is clearly the way to go.

The 05 may cost quite a bit more than a discounted 04, but is a better financial investment in addition to being a much better car. One sales rep I worked with said no one was looking at the 04s, and mentioned they may have to auction them off just to move them. I doubt that will be the case, but his point was well taken.

Get the 05 Sonic Blue GT. You will be kicking yourself if you don't. That is what I have and I love it.

If you buy an '04, it'll be a year old in a month, and will depreciate accordingly. Dunno if the price you're getting takes that into consideration.

Personally, after driving a '04 Mach 1 and a '05 GT...I like the GT a helluva lot better.

Thanks for all of your input guys. My salesman called me this morning, said we got a truckload full of stangs in today. Sales manager said he could do a z-plan deal today only cuz they had plenty in stock, and it's the last day of the month.

Just so happens they had a sonic blue GT 5spd that was unclaimed on the truck.

It's claimed now!!!!

Can't wait to get out of work so I can pick it up!

I actually own both the 2004 40th anniversary edition Gt and the 2005 sonic blue GT and I can tell you there is no comparison. NOTHING is anywhwere near the 2005. The 2004 can not even compete. I love it, don't get me wrong, I won't be getting rid of it, but my 2005 sonic blue GT is DA BOMB!!!!
