They are nearing the full production rate. Last week about 3,000 units were produced. This brings the total to about 18,000. By Jan. the dealers should have some sitting on the lots. The average lenght of time these now sit on the dealers lot until sold is reported to be 2 hours!

Yeah, I talked to a dealer on the phone. She said they just pulled one off the truck. I told her I was on the way, by the time I got there, it was sold.

That's awesome that they're selling so much. I wonder if 2005 will set any records in Mustang sales? I'm sure it won't beat the all-time record of number sold in a year from back in '66, but maybe some kind of mark since then?
Also, can anyone explain or even guess how in the world Ford is having all these shortages on rather important and desired parts? It's not like they didn't know they were going to offer then or that people would want them. I just don't see how the suppliers of the 18" wheels and the IUP packages don't have a stockpile of stuff. Seems like lousy managment somewhere. :nono:

There are no 18" wheels. They were never planned by Ford. Period.

The reason there isn't a surplus of IUP is because this is the only car to use MyColor. Its the first time its been produced, so that creates the problem.

I thought the wheels on the production car (Titanium w/ stripes) shown at the NAIAS were supposed to be an option. They're shown in several of the original production car (Redfire w/chrome) photos released by Ford as well. I just assumed they were meant to be shown because they were going to be available as an option.

I'm not sure, but I have a GT with IUP on order. The dealer said today that it is built and waiting for an ETA.

No, Ford never said that they would be offering them. They just used them because they looked better.

BTW, sorry for the offending tone, its just the 18" thing has been gone over soo many times that its quite annoying when it comes up over and over again.

Grantsdale not to beat a dead horse or bring up the 18" one more time but we do expect them in the future perhaps in 06.

They MAY be offered in 06. The assembly line doesn't support them right now, so unless thats changed they won't happen.

Since I have never worked an assembly line, and I like to learn how things work (curse of being an engineer). How does a 1" difference throw an asembly line out of wack? Or why do they have to adjust the line to accomodate an 18" wheel?

Don't mention it. It didn't bother me. I know what it's like to keep seeing the same questions over and over. This is probably one of the only things I wasn't aware of regarding the '05. I must have missed it somehow.
