As I was preparing to run the first track event on Thursday, lo and behold pulling into the pit area was the redfire '05 GT. It was just driven there by 2 guys that needed gas. This was the redfire that was going to be used in the opening ceremony. I was able to get 2 things accompolished by asking them: 1. I got to sit in the drivers seat and passenger seat and play with the controls and 2. I got them to pull the car around by where I was parked in the pit area and was able to get a picture of it beside my '99.

Folks timing is everything and you never know until you ask. Here are my thoughts ont he car:

1. No question, this car looks MUCH better in person than it does in the photos.
2. The seats are phenomenal. I cannot describe the support. The only thing I would have asked for was a LITTLE bit more lateral support on the back. Other than this I have NEVER been in a Mustang with seats this good. Thank you Ford. The back seats are deep.
3. The instrument cluster is huge. I didn't realize it was that large. Looks very cool behind the steering wheel which is much smaller than the current version. The multi-color option is programmed similar to how we look at the diagnostics today. No dedicated button in the cockpit.
4. The clutch is VERY LIGHT. Compared to my '99 it wasn't even there. The shifter is in the perfect position. Very short throw.
5. Visibility out of the car is very good.
6. The hood is definately aluminum. Light as a feather. I am concerned about it getting dented when you close it. It closes similar to today's
7. The car is quiet at idle. As they were pulling away I asked them to get on it a little bit. It got louder. Sounded great. Very low rumble.

I have pictures and vids I will post once I get them together. No question one of these will show up in the garage. Both my wife and daughter loved it.

Thank you for posting!! I'm living through you right now. Great to hear about the clutch, visability, seats etc... Those are things we haven't talked about much but are VERY important on a day to day basis.

Please post vids as soon as you can. Do you have any larger pics??

I am 5' 10". Leg room was very good where the seat was positioned. I didn't want to move the seat for the guy driving it. He was probably a few inches shorter than I am. I could have moved the seat back a little bit. I was able to get in and out of it much easier than my '99.

Couldn't listen to the radio. Keys were not in it. Tried to get them though

Where is a good site to post the vids I have?? Fourvalve.com isn't working for me any longer.

I will try and get the vids seperated tonight.

I'm sure Brad will host them for you. He's got an ftp site but I forgot the address? Anyone?

Supposed to be about 3450lbs or so. We won't know for sure until Ford releases official #'s.
