Naked Hood
#1
Perhaps I am the only one that feels this way but...
The only thing that 'bothers' me about the 05, is the plain hood. I think it is just begging to be blacked out and have a nice cobra-jet scoop front and center.
Can you tell I am partial to the '69 Mach 1?

I think a girl with a simple dress, barely hiding what she's got "under the hood", is a lot sexier than some tart with a push up bra, trying to fake it.
With regards to cars, my true feeling is that any scoop better be useful. Any non-functional scoop on a car screams out "I'm pretending to be badder than I am".
It's like the fart cans on an otherwise stock Honda. I don't care how cool the muffler is, how well built, and how it is good for the air flow for a 300hp 4-banger. If you're running stock, with a Bassani, you are crying for attention with no real reason to deserve any.
Same goes for false shakers, scoops with blanks covering the air intake, and cowl induction hoods with stock air cleaners.

I agree, Bill. Though the hood scoop on the SN95 GT was executed tastefully, it is still a bother to those who know it's fake. I much prefer the clean lines of the stock hood, but add a functional shaker or functional scoops on there, and I'll be drooling!

I agree about the hood. I would prefer something at least partially functional though if they add a scoop.
This is one of those things that some people think is dull/boring and others think is clean/classy. Just like I prefer the V6 grill without the huge driving lights, I think it looks much better than the GT grill. I am trying to wait until the SVT version comes out a year or more from now so I really need to stop looking at the car since it seems to be calling out to me to buy it.
I am curious to see what SEMA brings.

Personally, I like the Prototype's intake (assuming it was functional cold air induction, even if not really ram-air). But it was subtle and clean, and didn't disturb the lines of the car, but had a little edge to it.
I'm with 07svt -- I prefer the cleaner V6 grill, and have plans on buying that. And I'm waiting impatiently for the release (or announcement) of the SVT before I buy.
In the back, I prefer the subtle ducktails to the stronger fins.
I have this burning urge to go out and pounce on a V6 (buy it now), then add the body mods I want, and get it how I want it. Then buy an SVT motor or some hotted up version later when they come out. The thing that keeps me from doing it, is I'm not sure of the suspension or other mods coming on the Cobra, and it could easily be a bad idea to do it my way?
~ Patience! How long is that gonna TAKE!

This is probably the exact reaction Ford wanted about the hood.
This just gives us more of a reason to personalize the '05.
They have stated many times they know we like to modify them.
Also, it gives them more room to "play" when they do SE's.
Once you think about it, it was probably a good idea to keep it plain.
Remember how many of us complained about the fake scoop on the '01-'04?
Ford listened. Those who want clean can have it, those who don't can change it. It'll be much easier than removing the old scoop and having holes in the hood.

i agree the hood could look better. but why give everything the first year out. then noone would want to get the 06 or beyond mustang. they want to make money. and they make that by everyone trading their cars back in for the improved version. im sure ford has some really nice stuff instore for this car

I like the clean, uncluttered look of the hood. Fact is, it is much easer to add than take away.
For the people who want scoops, this car is a great blank canvas for putting on whatever scoop you want on it.
And once again, the hood looks much better in person, it does not have a flat appearance but has some nice dimension to it.

eye makeup, lip color, hair color or anything else. If you like your Stang
with a 'bad' look then you're gonna have to modify it and I like that mean look.
It'd be nice to have functional scoops to cool the brakes and assist the engine
but it's all what you want to spend and have it look like. So you can me and
all the rest "the Pretenders" and they were a great band with a great singer
from Akron Ohio anyway.
