You are indeed a lucky man to have her...............my wife would have doused mine with gas and drove it to the point where she thought it might catch fire......

If you are good at using a Dry Chem Extinguisher, you don't even make any mess to clean up. Never let a Fire Dept spray water down the Chimmey as this will destroy the inner liner bricks. Also have the Fire Dept check for hot spots in case there was a cracked liner. Many Fire Depts have a device that will check for temp differents in the walls, attics, garage etc.
Closing the flue put it out almost immediately. I just got a little smoke from the logs that were burning. I put those in the ash bucket and carried them outside.

The did have and use the infrared (or whatever it is) camera. No hotspots.

Ummm, shouldn't that be "our" Shelby?

Glad to hear everything worked out. My wife is awesome too. She understands my obscession, oftentimes called "car crazy" and has stuck with me for almost 24 years. In fact, it was only last month that she said, ".... why don't you just buy one (GT500)?" Well, that's all it took. Located and bought one within two weeks. It's now "ours" ...
It is ours only in the legal sense. She has only driven it once before moving it. That was around the block in 1st and 2nd gear. She knows how to drive a manual, she had a 240SX when we met. She just does not want to drive it. I have encouraged her to.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words and well wishing.

I can't believe no one asked for pics of the wife
I would let my house burn down at this point as its over insured. lol
Glad everything turned out alright. We clean our fire place every 3 or 4 years. I know thats not often enough.
What do you use to start your fires?

I can't believe they haven't either. She'd kill me and take the Shelby if I put any pics up of her (although she is hot).

I started using those starter sticks last year. They are some kind of pine that is high in oil. Supposedly, you can light them with a match. It takes too long that way. I use one page of newspaper wadded up under the grate with logs arranged in a pyramid and 2 starter sticks in the middle of it. I leave plenty of space for air to flow through it. Works every time. The fireman did not think those small stick would make enough difference to build up creosote fast enough.

AS Cody said, not available in Auto unless you put it in yourself. I was saying that it being a manual is not the reason she does not drive it.

That makes the story even better - that the car (GT500's are all manuals - now I know) is a stick.

My wife is the same way. I've had the vert since June '06 and she's never driven it or asked to drive it. She's owned a stickshift Spitfire convertible, a stick Honda Accord and a motorcycle....she's definitely comfy driving stick. She just has no interest in driving it.

Fine by me

Now her girlfriend is a different story. Her and her husband own at least a dozen Mustang's from all years. Her daily driver is an '05 GT and she just picked up a GT500 last year. She stopped by our house on the way home from picking up the GT500 last year and tossed me the keys to take it for a spin. My kind of girl.

Oh, and get this....they named their youngest son "Ford".
