I went out this evening to find a 1/2" of water sitting on the passenger side front carpet, and the electrical system acting up due to the fusebox in the kick panel being wet :bang:

I'm baffled as to what happened, it's been raining here, but there's never been a hint of a leak before, and the top and windows all appear to be secure

Dunno. certainly no holes or anything, and the sun visors, etc weren't damp. Besides which the puddle was mosty under the hard front roof section.

Try taking a bottle of water and pour small amounts of water in different places and see if you can find the leak. Maybe the window wasn't closed all the way?

Yeah, that's probably a sensible next step.

Also maybe the door wasnt closed all of the way? The water could have seeped in through the seams.

Hard to be sure as the door was already open on that side when the problem was found

It may not be a vert thing..some of us with coupes have had the very same thing happen..While driving in the rain or just washing it...I know mine was leaking and running down right by the fuse box getting the passanger side floor all wet..The dealer found mine after 2 trys..but I'm not sure where they found it..There are other threads on this...try a search on water leaks..hope it helps

P-K, let me know how you make out, or if you need any help. Haven't noticed any wet spots when washing, kept inside otherwise.

Oh man, what a bummer I hope you figure it out. When you do, please post so we can maybe prevent a similar thing...

We "baptized" our car when it was about 2 weeks old---top down, late summer storm came out of nowhere. Found the back (leather) seats hold water really well

It was too cold today to haul out the garden hose and experiment. I'll definitely post any findings when I do.

Another sorta ironic sidelight on the situation. I ordered a car cover about a week before this happened, just waiting on the delivery

We had a Jeep and the air conditioner would leak leaving a puddle on the passenger side. That's about all the experience I've had in a situation like yours...

Can't be that. The car was sitting and the A/C hadn't been on in more than a week when this happened. Car was just sitting.

It's been about 25 degrees here, so investigating hasn't really worked out so far

Hm. Has it been really cold out there? Maybe some weatherstripping or something shrunk and let the water seep in. Hope you can find the problem soon.

Had an '80 Buick Regal that leaked at the lower right corner of the windshield. Dealer had to replace the onboard computer twice before they figured out the problem. (Water was running down the wiring harness and into the module behind the passenger kick plate)

Check for a missing rubber plug in the firewall, read a couple of post regarding wet carpets on the passenger side due to this.
