Dealership told me today that the reason I have no VIN or build date yet is because FORD is waiting for more IUP ( Interior Upgrade packages) to come in , that Ford is running our of them............WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?

I am so confused. This dealer has been GREAT to me, and I have no doubt that I will get my car from them , but this was making me nervous.... I just want my stang.......

Did you order a V6?

I see the GT reference in your signature. If you did order a GT then the IUP is not the reason for your delay.

That's true. IUP supplies are VERY low. They expected 50% of the cars to be ordered with the IUP, but it's closer to 80%.

Sounds fishy, like they made up an answer because they don't have the real one and they think you'll bite on this. There should be someone on this board who can confirm whether it is BS or not though....

Good luck.

I did order the GT Deluxe with IUP. Will this delay the car for a long time, or do we know if FORD is keeping up with the demand?!

I got the same kind of answer to the same question. It's probably got more to do with their allocation of cars than ford's lack of IUP. I've noticed people that ordered the same time that I did in different parts of the country who also got cars identical to mine(with IUP) who already have VIN's and build dates.

I ordered a GT auto with IUP for a customer on 10/25/04. It was pulled and assigned a VIN on friday of that week. It immediately was put on TEMP HOLD for about three days and then assigned a build date the week of 11/29. Since then it has been put back to a TEMP DELAY status as of today. Build date now shows TBD. If the dealer had available allocation, the unit should have been pulled and assigned a VIN.

I ordered Mineral Grey GT with IUP 10/20/04 and got my VIN today. Sales Manager said parts have been pulled and is ready to build, I could have by end of month. I deserve it, last 2 cars took 5 1/2 months each from order to delivery!

I ordered my car on October 20. I picked up my DORA yesterday and got my VIN number, and while at the dealership I was told that my car had a build date of October 27.
I called Ford Customer Care this afternoon to check on the status of my car and they told me that the car is on a Temp Hold but wasn't able to give me the reason.

Does anyone know what the reason for delay could be?

u have nothing to worry about dont forget there r 50,000 orders and i can tell u most porbably ordered IUP. they arent limited they r just backed up. i think the reason for the delay is ford has to catch up on some work after that vacation they supposedly went on
