for thoes of you who hang out here you may remember that some ******* hit my car in the parking lot with a shopping cart monday afternoon.
tuesday morning i went to the body shop to get a bid on the repairs.
on my way to work i was sitting at the light and BAM.
next thing i know im sitting in the middle of the intersection, i get out and look at the car that just hit me and its WASTED. the front end is smashed all the way to the windshield ( 97 dodge intrepid).
as im running back to see if they are ok i take a glance over my sholder and my stang looks pretty good in comparison!
the driver of the other car broke her arm and was rushed to the hospital
and i walked away with whiplash and a strained back!
i went back to the scene today and the skid mark (looks like only one tire locked) is over 200 ft long,
the accident report estamated that she was going 50+ when she hit me!
my ride now sits wounded in the body shop with both rear quartes buckled, and torn loose from the trunk cowl.
both rear frame railes bent and who knows what else wrong (they are still in the discovery process)
in nebraska they have a 75 percent rule that would have to have the damage at $22,500 to total
the car (sucks bad) so ill wait to see how good the body shop is

Hey, I'm in Bellevue myself. Maybe we can organize an Omaha Mustang get together some time.
What's funny is as I was reading I'm thinking "I'm lucky here I guess, less traffic, less incidents." But not really when I think of it. Glad to hear you're ok and that the 'stang took one for the team like a champ.

Glad you're okay, man!
Be sure to ask around for the best body shop in town, if you don't know of a good one yourself. Ask a Porsche owner, if you know one. They tend to be the pickiest of all about their cars, IMO. Don't assume your Ford dealer will be the best, either. I know from experience.

Glad to hear you are ok. On the bright side...if you are the guy with the shopping cart....your hiney just got off the hook for originally hitting you

Jay,
Glad to hear you are ok,
I'm guessing just from your description of the accident, it will be a write-off. Not too many cars can take a shot @ 50MPH and survive.
I had a near miss a few weeks ago... too many idiots on the roads

120th and L, don't like that one, that's why I usually run that one myself
Where'd you take the car and what's your prognosis on your back/neck?
As far as Mustang get togethers, Midwest Stangs is the local club, PM me for info.

That's for sure. Especially the ones that think they have to prove something when they see a GT.

GLAD you are okay bro!
So sorry about your Pony.......
Go to a chiropractor or something to keep an eye on your lower back - that kind of thing can plant a seed that can catch up with you years down the road (I was in an accident at 16 with no seatbelt on - passenger - and when I was about 27 or 28, started having lower back problems.)

Glad you're okay. I've sent a request to the Mustang gods to give you a total. Damage looks pretty extensive. I'd want a new car personally.

As someone else has asked, whether they admit it or not, probably on a cell phone. Glad your OK. I get checked over real good before signing a release.. In 85 I was at a stop light and a guy hit me going around 20-25 mph. I remember by head going back some but the next day felt fine. About 7 years later I started to have some neck problems whick the doctor said was probably related to the accident. Some stuff takes time to show up

Glad you're Ok, mostly. I imagine the back and neck ache will be around a while.
I'm almost certain your car will be totalled. From the looks of that frame rail and all the buckling in the trunk, they'll probably say it's too iffy to repair correctly. Mine was a 25-30 mph crash, me hitting with the front, and even that was enough to total it out. Our total damage limit is 65 % here though, which is a little lower. Their final repair estimate was actually only about 50%, but they decided there was a good chance the costs would rise as they took it apart, so they just wrote it off.
One good thing is now you can order a new one and start over from mile 1. Bad part is you don't have the car you've been in love with for so long any more and have to replace it. My biggest problem at first was that I couldn't get another one in Sonic Blue. Vista blue looks great, so I am getting that this time, but I still like Sonic Blue better. Oh well. Now I get heated seats.
Good luck with it. Took my insurance company almost 3 weeks to tell my for sure it was totalled.
