I've had my '05 GT with a manual transmission for 5 months. A while back my airbag warning light came on within the instrument cluster while driving. I had my local service department check it out this week, and they ended up having to replace the entire instrument cluster.

I just got the car back yesterday. Everything is fine except for one problem. When I put my manual transmission into reverse, the car beeps like one of those big delivery trucks do when in reverse. The beep comes from within the car, not outside, and it is the same beeping sound you would hear if you left your lights on or when you open the door with the key in the ignition when the car isn't started.

Is this a normal phenomenon on the '05, and maybe my car was faulty from the get go, or did my local service department wire the new instrument cluster improperly?

Does anyone else's '05 beep when in reverse?

It is April Fools day - maybe your car is smarter than you think? Maybe she will make the beep go away tomorrow. Ha ha.

Madtrapper has the same problem, also his has a fast beep when he hits 80mph that goes away after around 5 seconds.

He had the dealer install his mycolor dash as his car came with the sport package.

I had my cluster replaced for the same airbag light flashing issue, no beeping in reverse from either the old cluster or the new one. Mine has the upgraded cluster from the factory. I have an auto trans but I doubt that would make much of a difference.

I _hate_ beeping machines. If I'm not smart enough to know when I'm in reverse or over 80, I shouldn't be driving at all. Gitcher electric gadgets offa me!

Has anyone gone through the procedure to shut off seat belt warnings?

CA Stang. Your problem is that the odometer in your instrument cluster does not match the mileage recorded in the main computer. The beeping is put there purposly to tell you if the odometer has been tampered with. It sounds like your dealer forgot to download the computer stored mileage into the new Instrument Cluster.

Thanks for the tip V10. Now that I think of it, the mileage when I got the car back, after having the new instrument cluster installed, was off by about 100 or so miles. I'm bringing it back to the service department tomorrow.

My car also beeps when the speedometer gets up to 75 mph, for about 5 seconds, as Madtrapper is experiencing.

If it beeps @ 75 MPH with cruise control on, that is a secondary odometer descrepancy indication.

If is beeps @ 75 MPH without cruise on, you have the wrong firmware in the IC. The 75 MPH beep is required in certain export countries, so your IC is set to one of those foreign countries.
