if anyone is influencing engineering, it is Mazda influencing Ford, look at the MX-6 (ford probe sister) and all the new fords coming out with Mazda 6 Underpinnings including the drivetrains.

Also remember guys, the Probe was almost the new mustang. Then we would have had a Mazda engineered and powered FWD japanese car called the Ford Mustang, instead of the 94-04 stangs. And if it went that way, we'd probably now have no stang.

That's how it is supposed to work when two companies are working together. Using that same example, the V6 in the Mazda6 is a Ford engine. Ford Motor Companies CD3 platform, he platform the Mazda6 uses, will also be used in the Fusion, Aviator, and others.

This thread has gotten totally off topic, seems like this should be about the rx7 ROFL......Most of these kids are more interested in the stereo specs than the cars performance, we mostly have no worries, It would be hillarious to see one of them revving up the fart can and watch it sputter and die.....LMAO... :headbang:

You need to start that new GT when you get it and listen to the V8 roar and then a smile will come to your face and you will start singing the Star Spangled Banner. "Jose can you see"
Umm, I have my GT, have had it for 6 months now. And please don't do that to the National Anthem. Thank you.

I want to reverse the situation and say my daughter was driving to see us in her 2004 ZO6 Vette and some jerk was tailgating her in a 05 GT on 85 coming in from South Carolina to Atlanta. He must NOT know what he is messing with. I have driven the baddest things out there, 428 Cobra Jet 4 speed 1969/ 440 6 pak GTX. And this Vette is the fastest thing I've driven. Yeah, I drove the GT MT and AT. This Vette would walk any of the stuff I've driven. 0-60 in 4.2 1/4 in low 12's so get real GT dude and don't even gp there. I asked her what she did and she wisely said she ignored him because she "didn't want to get a ticket" I said good choice

All show and no go Although a friend of mine has an Evo that puts down like 340HP to the wheels. Kept it stock looking but i know not to mess with Evos... they're never really stock under the hood.

yeah, I guess that's kind of my fault, but I resent being being lumped in with ricers just because my car is Japanese. My only mods on the car are performance, suspension, and safety for HPDE and autox.

I have a new found respect for some of those Japanese automobiles. I raced one of my buddies WRX Sti and beat him BARELY. We did a best out of 3 and barely squeezed him out. Please fellas, let's not get big heads because our car has 300 horses because there is always something faster out there. I mod my car to my liking, not to try and compete with a bunch of people on the road. If the opportunity arises then yes I might give in just to let her rip, but I wouldn't start bashing other people who have the SRT-4's EVO's and STi's.

03-04 I THINK. I forget exactly. I now know the later model STi has 330hp I believe which can take our Mustang stock to stock.

There is always an exception here and there but as a whole they are all show and no go as stated..

YEP! Agreed, they are all show and no go. I didn't mean to put Evos, STis, SRT-4s in the same sentence when discussing fart mobiles.

What is this... rice thread #107??? Jeesh!

People arguing about what is rice and what isn't is rediculous becuse everyone has a different view of what the slang, yes slang term means.

To me, it's any car modded to the point of absurdity. It can be a Civic, or a Focus, or God forbid a Mustang and be rice by my defination. Any car that looks like it belongs in The Fast and the Furious w/ wings, NOS stickers, ugly body kits, altezza lights, fart can exhaust... etc is rice IMO.

That said, a stock Civic is not rice, and a stock 350Z or RX8 is just a great car, just like our beloved 'Stangs. Just please don't ruin them with a High School level customization job.

that was in reply to people saying Ford was Engineering Mazdas

and the V6 was actually designed by Mazda. As was the one in the Probe GT and MX6.
