Motorheads -Question about Noise in Engine of 2005
Well I am now at about 700 miles and I have a possible issue with my GTs motor -but I am not not sure yet....
So I figured some of the mechanics amongst us might be able to give me a clue..
I am hearing about every 60 seconds a loud single CLICK sound in the engine compartment... almost like a switch getting activated
Its regular and it occurs approx every 60 seconds without fail.... even while driving down the road - at any speed and during idle.
I am not sure what to think - at first I thought it was the electric fan going on and off - but now I am not too sure...
ANY one else experiencing this - had it diagnosed etc.....
Thanks in advance!

DOH -
I had forgotten that running a defroster activates the AC unit ... after I realized I had the defroster on
I shut it off ... then the noise went away. What ever the case its VERY irritating noise never the less!!
Thanks guys for the response!
I have to admit I was sweating bullets this afternoon listening to it in the Freeway Jam!

Well that clicking if associated with the ac is the clutch of the compressor activating. I believe it is magnetic and when the clutch is activated it locks the spinning pulley to the clutch causing it too turn the innards of the compressor. There is supposed to be a certain thousands of inch specifications between the clutch and the actual magnet that magnetizes to activate the clutch to lock up. If this space is too big, you can get a clicking noise when activated, cause it basically is slamming into the magnet when activated. good luck, probably just a loud compressor clutch kicking on.
