OK, a quick background:

I ordered my '05 GT on 6/14/04 (with all the help I got from everyone here). The dealership didn't place the order with the factory until 7/1/04.

About a month later, my dealer finally gave me my VIN #, but no build date. I was told by them, "A build date and an ETA are given at the same time. And that is only when the invoice arrives from the factory." When I questioned this, I was assured that this is common practice.

Now, every time I call, I get fed the same line of BS, and there doesn't seem to be a way around it.

I know a lot of you are mad because the status of your Stangs hasn't changed, or it says that it should have arrived, but I can't even get my dealer to tell me what my status is. Is there any possible way that I can get a status update without going through my dealer??? Maybe one of the dealers here can shed some light on my disappointing situation?

What dealership did you order from? I live in SI too and I'm going to be ordering my GT soon. Give me your email address too because I'm probably gonna be asking you a lot of questions.

I ordered from Island Ford on Richmond Avenue. Feel free to email me using the email button at the bottom of my posts. If I can answer any of your questions, I will be happy to do so.

Problem is, the dealer seems to be hiding info from me. I am under the assumption that a build date is sent out with your VIN#, but as far as I know, my car might not even be built yet.

I stopped in at Island Ford on Saturday hoping to see stangs there. He told me that they will be getting some in about a week. I will try again this weekend. I asked about orders (Knowing that you put one in). He said that yes there was an order but did not give me any details. Sounds like you are the only order they have.

If I hear anything I will let you know as well.

There is no reason that I can think of that they would mess this up 4 you. If you have a vin they shouldn't be able to bait and switch you.

I stopped in at Island Ford last week asking for brochures, none yet though. The cars they said would be coming in 2 weeks or so. I'm still not sure if I'm buying from them yet, so let me know how everything works out.

It's not right that some dealers give their customers the run araound...especially when they have more info than they're willing to share! :notnice:
