I have to say at first with the my new manual GT i was gettin 10 mpg... and I had never driven a manual before... within a week i had it up to 15 mpg around the city streets... i took it on a 2 hour trip and got her up to 25 mpg... and now at almost 1000 miles i am averaging around 16-17... not bad at all!

Check this out! I took a test drive(guy gave me the keys and said "take it out") so I did. It was a white GT with red leather and AT. It was fast but I didn't burn the tires. Just took off at a light and 60mph came up in a blink. Hit the passing gear doing 50mph and 80mph came up fast. Then I looked down and was shocked to see "9.3 avg mpg" Man that is sorry!!! :notnice: I had a big fast Buick GS that got 14mpg. My Ford F150 gets 15mpg. I never had a car that got that low of milage before. I like the car, good brakes, tight steering but 9.3mpg??? I am starting to have second thoughts now.
It's probably because of all the idling and moving it around the dealership lot. Not to mention short test drives. When we bought our Lincoln a few years ago, it had the same 8 or 9 mpg on the message center. After about a couple weeks, it went up to 18 or 19 mpg. Don't let that be the deciding factor on this car.

I've stayed in the 14's since I got the car. I also do quite a bit of city driving (17L/100km). I have 5200kms on her so I think break-in isn't the problem. Not that heavy a foot either.

I figure I'm just shifting a bit later than I should (when I owned my Probe GT I used to like to keep her around 2.5-3k (where more of the punch was)........with the GT I usually keep it around 2k which might be a bit high for good mpg.
Is that in mpg or km/L?

Sorry, mpg.

I've started shifting up a gear (ie. when I'm usually in 3rd I put it in 4th etc...) so that I'm reeving around 1.5k. My latest milage is 14.5L/100km or 16.5mpg. That's somewhat better but obviously my city driving and spending time in traffic really does a number on milage.

For 2.5L/100km I'd almost like to keep the revs up and enjoy the car rather than constantly thinking of milage. :bang:
