I was at my dealership today who gave me a great deal on my V6 last November and decided to look at the few GT's they had on the lot. I was shocked to see they all have a $5,000 market adjustment still! No wonder I still don't see many on the road around here.

If there are still markups in your area (I know there are in North Jersey, but very few in Central?South Jersey), that's because therer are morons actually PAYING those ridiculous prices. That, or the dealers don't want to sell the car because it attracts business. But usually, it's the former, not the latter.

Paying over sticker is one of the most moronic things a consumer can do. Ugh. Makes me sick.

Thats the sad part, it looks like people here still have the "gotta have it" mentality. The one GT I was lookign at was at $35,XXX.00 plus tax, ect. I'm sure it will be gone next week though and yet i'll never see it on the road. I don't get it.

I went to a local dealership for an oil change and they have $5000.00 mark up on their GT's and some of their V6's are priced as much as my fully opted GT. I couldn't believe it. Most had those aftermarket replica rims, the ones with the fake cobra center caps, you can purchase for $150 a piece, adding $3000.00 "wheel and tire charge". Crazy.

I paid under MSRP at the height of the craze back in Feb. for an '05. I say your dealer is a bunch of screwballs. Go somewhere else

When someone is willing to pay over MSRP; he should also ask the dealer if he'll get $ XXXX over book trade in value too? I'll bet the dealer will choke on that question.

The dealer where I originally bought my car is "letting" people buy GTs on XPlan again. Soon after I ordered my car, they stopped letting people use XPlan. I guess sales on GTs got slow after the summer season.

I had my GT in for service last week at Ron Hopkins Ford in Elgin, IL.
They have a white GT with blue lemans stripes. The sticker reads 28K however they have added a 5K market adjustment and 2K for the stripes. My stripes cost me $500.

UNBELIEVABLE!!

They'll just say no. The dealer is making money off people with people paying over MSRP. That extra money goes to the dealer. What people should do is walk out on salesman that wont go under MSRP or even at list price. Only reason they charge over it cuz they know some people are dumb enough to pay it.

My dealer had a 2006 Saleen. It wasn't supercharged. MSRP was $46,000 with a $5,000 market adjustment bringing it to $51,000. It had 330 HP. I know Saleens are special editions, but who would pay that much over a regular Mustang GT for just 30 more horse power?

A doofball would pay twice as much for 30HP more.

doofball

Speaking of doofball's... a local dealer has a PW GT w/ stripes and oversized exhaust clamp ons - I look to see if it's an '05 or '06 - I can't tell because the factory sticker has been removed and instead there's a dealer printed sign that lists the mods and for pricing it says "See salesman for special pricing"

I just can't believe it. This one didn't even look good. The dealer has had 2 PW GT's, one WB 6 and one SY 6 since they first came out... that's all. I love pulling in their parking lot w/ my TR GT and seeing all the salesman plastered to the window.

I think they'd sell more cars, and therefore get more allocation, if they ran their business more professionally.

Simply put, mark ups ought to be ILLEGAL.
If the retail price "suggested" by the manufacturers is a price where a dealership ought to be happy with the profit they make, I don't see why someone could simply ask for more money for NO reason WHATSOEVER.
It really is a joke and a concept only known in the USA, in the rest of the world (I can vouch for Europe for sure) it simply doesn't happen...
Ridiculous...

Yes, it truly is wrong. Agreed.

This isn't 05/06 related, but I had almost the same thing happen with my Mach 1. I walked out of the dealership and spent an extra week or so, and found a GREAT dealer on the other side of nashville that sold to me at X-Plan with 0% financing.

Shop around to weed out the jerks.

Plain and simple...The automotive industry is in trouble...beware of these dealers...don't stay and think, "but what if I don't find another one"...bullS**T...Dealers will look for the ones they can prey on, but if you go in with a cool head and keep your emotion out of it, you more than likely will either walk away or you will come out smelling a little better, not much, but at least you won't feel like someone stuck something in your you know what!!!...Patience!!!

Was looking at 05 Stang Gts in Long Island last Aug and they wanted $5000 over sticker...Most of Long island and NY and NJ area did not have many 05 Stang Gts and as of nowwww they don't have many 06s yet.
Drive south and you will get a stang Gt close to invoice and I am not talking about Florida or Texas.......If yea want a 2006 black manual GT email me and you can call the salesmanager up and see if you can get the car at Invoice from PA area about 2 hours from NYC.....JT
