Thumbs up

Anybody know how to get to the map light assembly? Hubby wants to straight wire the radar detector and possibly mount it on the map light housing. Can't find where anybody has done this. Any suggestions/info will be appreciated. Thanks!

In this thread someone took the map light housing off to put homelink buttons in it, doesn't really say how though...

Perhaps Galaxie can get ahold of a work instruction? I'd like to see this too. Seems like it could also be an easy way to put in one of those temp rearview mirrors. Could also be an easy way to blow a fuse.

stick a key or flat screwdriver on the side of the assembly in the center to push in the clip then pull down on that side. Repeat on the other side. I can get you the work instruction tomorrow at lunch time.

Here's an idea... forget the radar detector. Guaranteed ticket if I stop you... and I don't write Mustangs.

I can see that point of view. Do you think this holds for speed trap duty too? That's where I would get it: I think that I mostly go with the flow, and don't get pulled over unless they are lying in wait.

There is no such thing as a speed trap... I'd like to have a magic button that allows me to change the speed limit arbitrarily but I don't. I do hide and I do stop Mustangs/Camaros/Vettes/etc. but anyone driving a performance car has to talk themselves into a ticket (It has happened) unless they were doing something comepletely assinine i.e. 120 through rush hour traffic... then they're getting a ticket.

For those that argue that they use the a detector to remind them of the speed limit... BS... you are a habitual, willing speeder that is trying to cheat the system. If you need something to warn you you are going too fast... My grandmother's 1977 Buick Electra had a buzzer you could set to go off if you hit a certain speed.
