Lowering springs

Thinking about either ford racing or the SR brand. I just put 20 inch staggered foose legends on. Now I need to drop it. Do I need the camber plates??

Depends on the drop.

If it's a 1" drop in the front... not so much. Although perhaps the camber bolts would suffice if you needed to, or spin the mounting plates 180 is an option. Upgrade to the GT500 mounts though, IMO. If it's more than 1", yeah, you're pretty much talkin' camber correction, either the bolts or the plates.

And for the axle, you might also want to check to see if you need to get your pinion angle fixed, lest you wanna replace the pinion seal... And/or lower control arm brackets to correct that geometry, or even adjustable LCAs in the back, so the handling doesn't go to crap. And an adjustable panhard bar if the shove to the left after the lower is driving you nuts/is really bad. So take all that into consideration when talking lowering in the back. 1-1.25" isn't supposed to need a lot of anything, but anything lower, yeah, you're lookin' at some things to do.

Also, I noticed that after dropping mine just the 1" all 'round with the Ford P springs... Bumpsteer's a thing. I got a kit, but I ain't put it on yet, because... well, stuff. But she wanders just a little bit, enough that I finally decided to get the kit. It's 'drivin' me nuts, but... I can't quite get that done yet. Soon(tm).

Hope that helps!

Lowering springs

What houtex has said is all very true.

I would definitely recommend shocks and gt500 strut mounts when you do the springs. I waited and just did the springs at first. It wasn't long before the stock shocks bit the dust, and I had to do all the work of tearing the car apart again.

Currently I'm on steeda's sport springs with koni oranges, and GT500 mounts turned 180 degrees. I have about 15,000 - 20,000 miles on this setup and everything has been fine. After an alignment I found that I am just out of factory specs in regards to camber, but I have had no abnormal tire wear. So I have not had to get camber plates or bolts.

Good luck with everything. If your doing the install yourself there is a great write up done by Taco Bill on this site. He wrote several back in the day. I think you can find his stuff in the sticky section.

Also we need pics.

I got the Eibach pro-kit springs, Eiback camber bolts, Koni Oranges, and GT-500 Strut mounts sitting my garage. I just have not had time to install them yet.

Oh yeah, shocks. Yeah. You wanna do those. Period. The stock ones *really* don't like being asked to dampen at any other height than stock.

Get this, if you look at the part numbers, they're *all different* from V6 to GT, and then even from coupe to convertible! Why? Because specific tuning for weights/springs.

Crazy, I tell ya.

I also have the Eibach pro kit springs along with the Eibach camber bolts..

At present, I'm still running the stock struts/shocks and strut mounts but will be upgrading to GT-500 strut mounts and Koni adjustable yellows in the near future..

Anyone have any feedback on the roush springs. They only from a v6 about an inch so there may be less issues with changing out other components.

I would check with Roush first, as you might have compatibility issues with a GT suspension
