now i usually go to the same Sunoco outside the holland tunnel in NJ every time i need to fill up. it isnt the most expensive but it isnt cr@p gas so its my cars #1 choice. i ALWAYS get out of the car and open the gas cap for them so all they have to do is put the nozzle in and walk away. 90% of the time i end up taking it out when its done and im off. well this time i get out, open the gas door and take the cap off and the guy comes over to put the nozzle in. well........a fellow employee come over and starts talking to him in spanish (im not even going to go there but you get the idea). then his buddy goes to lean on my spoiler and trunk like its nothing! now my car is SPOTLESS. 95% swirl free with no scratches or anything. i baby that car like it was my own flesh and blood. i then look at him and say "um could ya...." and do the hand motion like.....get the h3ll off the car. he gives me this dirty look and i just cross my arms and stare him down slowly shaking my head. then then both look at me and start talking in spanish. now i KNOW they were talking about me but i really didnt care. what bothered me was the complete inconsideration for my property. what is the deal with everyone thinking they can sit or lean or do anything to any car they choose without feeling any remorse?!?!?
help me out here, am i just waaay too overprotective or was i right. i just need confirmation for my insanity hahahah

What is with New Jersey that they don't think you can put gas in your own cars? I swear the next time I see one at a gas station looking at the pump like it's an alien, I'm gonna smack them.
You guys need a place at the border that teaches you something every 16 year old in the rest of the counrty knows. That way, you are the one touching your ride, not some douche that doesn't know any better.

The world has two types of peoples: Have and Have Nots. The Have Nots could care less about your property or the money and time you spend keeping that property in good condition. A vehicle, a home, land, ect. doesn't matter. You are right to be pissed in this situation or any situation when someone else has little or no respect for your stuff.

You are absolutely right to have been pissed off. I might even go a step further and complain to the manager. Probably wouldn't do any good, but it might make you feel better. Might help to learn a few choice descriptions in spanish to use on the idiot next time as well!
Moved out of NJ and never looking back. I can fill my own gas, buy ammo in a grocery store, and own rifles without having to beg the Gestapo for permission. Oh yes, there's also no vehicle emissions or safety inspection here!
daaaaaaaamn all these responses sound like me! so i guess im not crazy. yea i was thinking about complaing but chances are id get me no speak english. he didnt do anything to the paint it just erks me that someone could be so stupid and think they could lean on it..........AND WITH ME RIGHT THERE LOOKING AT HIM! thanks guys for the responses, makes me feel just alittle bit more sane.
o and fyi, sometimes i do just pump it myself in jersey if noone is around. 1, im not waiting for someone to come over and 2, i dont want anyone touching my car.

Take pictures of the person leaning on your car. Then take your car to a body shop and get an estimate on removal and repainting the panel. Return with pictures and estimate in hand and ask for compensation. People can learn to respect peoples belongings, one incident at a time.
Ha-Ha, I've been to that Sunoco outside the HT, they couldn't care less about your vehicle. I also hop out and open the gas door, I also try to estimate how much it would be to fill it up and then know off a few bucks so they don't try and top it off!
That just makes me insane!
I can't tell you how many times I've seen gas attendants overflowing your tank just so that don't have to make change, even if your paying with a credit card.
As soon as I see that, I take off for another station.

Happened to me in NJ driving back from Queens to Philly. I was in a rental car. I hopped out of the car and watched the guy gas it. Well, because you never know what they are really doing back there, and I don't need the rental car company finding some new dent in the car.
By the way I speak fluent Spanish. Is that what this thread is really about? BTW, I don't think they even speak Spanish in Queens anymore, more like Ethiopian and Arabic.

I normally go to self-serve gas stations but last summer went to a full serve. While the guy was filling it, he turned his back to the car and then learned up against the car. I looked out my window and said "Do you have a sore back?" He said "uh, no". So I said, "Then get your *** off my car!". He got the point pretty quick.
I live in NJ myself and I make sure that nobody leans on my car. There are many inconsiderate people who don't care about anything, I don't think them being spanish really makes a difference.

Hey Slip, your not crazy, TRUST ME!! If they were doing that to my car, and blew me off when I told them to get off my car, I would have helped them get off my car, after taking a quick pic with my cell phone as proof of them "trespassing" on private property (I know its a stretch, but sounds good). You think its bad at gas stations...car shows are worse!!
At a show in Riverside NJ, 2 years ago (big show, several hundred cars), we had a line of 7 Mustangs. One girl was literally leaning on the hood like a model, to get a shot! My friend was furious and ripped her a new you know what!! The person looked at us like we were the bully". NO, its our cars, don't touch them!! Then later that day, a small kid no more than 8 was opening car doors to sit in the cars! Thank god he didn't do it to my car, or his parents would have gotten an earfull!
While I don't live in Jersey, I do go there quite often for car shows and had to fill up over there several times. When I get to the pump, I get out, and get this...FILL THE CAR UP MYSELF!!! I don't give a rats *** if its illegal, they aren't touching my car!! No chances for overflows, no chances of them missing the opening with the nozzle and dinging my quarter-panel, nothing! I won't give them the chance!! And the funny thing, I've never gotten any hassles from doing this either. Usually the attendant asks if I need help. I reply back with a firm NO!

I must not get out much. I haven't seen a "service" station in 25 years, and didn't even know that they still existed! I wouldn't know what to do if someone came out to pump my gas for me. I certainly sympathize with you SLIP, though, and would probably do as 05Fordgt does. What are they going to do, arrest you? It's not like the average attendant will mind someone else doing his job, is it?

Car shows...take a hack saw for bicycles.I can cut one up in about 3 minutes.Show them the hack saw and tell them to back off or walk home.I know its mean but so was seeing my buddy's Nomad get scratched up for someone being inconsiderate. That bike was demolished by his 6'7" 270 lb son.
Yeah, totally forgot about them! Some shows actually have a sign that says NO BICYCLES!! And they even have cops walking around enforcing it. But your right, as alot of kids don't even care, or weren't taught to respect other peoples property. And what is with dogs at shows?
