I put my order in with Predtige Ford in Garland Like MR Pickles suggested so a big THANKS Mr. Pickles. I could not believe how hard it was to get a dealer to take my money. I called & e mailed 7 dealers and Prestige Ford in Garland is the ONLY One who has their act together : .

No problem my family has bought all our fords from them. Its supposed to be the biggest dealer in Texas and we have never had any problems there. How much of a deposit did you have to put down, they wanted 1,500 for my order?

they want $100. deposit. If they want more they should pay YOU interest on your money. After all they will have zero money invested for a buyer in waiting. After looking over the "x Plan" price they sent me I notice a couple fluff charges that state "11 U.S. GAL GAS $22.55" & "FDAF ASSESSMENT $ 240.00" there is no way I will pay for these non value add items of air. They will lose the sale if they don't take the items off. I've already called other dealers as a back up, actually I've called every dealer in North Texas. If this don't work I'll go to Florida I have connections there.

I think you miss the whole point of the deposit.

The deposit isn't there to somehow pay for anything. It's there as earnest money, to show that you are not just going to order 10 cars from 10 different dealers, and take the first one that shows up, screwing over the 9 remaining dealers.

There are people who would gladly walk away from $900 just to get their car a month early, with the hype surrounding this new Mustang. I wouldn't, but there are plenty who would.

I say that a $250 or $500 deposit is very reasonable. Are you really going to miss the $20 of interest you would have earned on that? You aren't willing to pay $20 to get the car of your choice, for a pre-negotiated price, vs. waiting for dealer stock and markups due to the high demand for the 05?

Seems like a misplaced sense of economy to me....

I dont think these are fluff charges. Every Ford dealership I know adds these

11 U.S. GAL GAS $22.55" & "FDAF ASSESSMENT $ 240.00

In fact I'm not certain they can take them off, I think they are added by Ford.

I was just wondering, the deposit really doesn't matter since they never cash the check. They just want to know how serious you are about ordering a car, otherwise anyone could go in order a car and never come back. I'm going up to the dealership tommorow to see if they have a bulid date yet, I ordered on July 27th. I also wanna see what price they have me down for, I'm going to try to get it for 25,000 before tt&l.
