Welcome aboard RCW! I think your car was one of the first few thousand that got caught up in the hold for a complete going over with a fine tooth comb. If I remember right, the first 4-5 thousand were held back. I thought they had all been delivered though. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks Treadhead.

It definitely was worth the wait.
I had nightmares wondering why, if it was built, why is it not being scheduled for delivery. You name it, and I was thinking the worst, from natural disasters to bad engine - drive-train, etc.

If they had just notified my dealer or myself of why, I could have slept a little better.

Well it is all old news now. It is so nice to be able to enjoy driving again, with an exceptional vehicle, even in the Metroplex with all of our friendly fellow drivers, (joke....).

I think that may have been toolong of a delay for the routine quality inspection check. I remember something of the initial engines had compression problems that were built back in August. They were held at the plant and not released. I wonder if your car was mixed up in that mess.

Congrats on finally getting your ride anyway.

like aremann2 i ordered on nov 8th, as of this last week, locked into production as for the week of feb 7th. So as to the time, probably about 4 months once I have car. Good luck aremann2, I see you ordered on same day. I thought it would never happen, but hopefully see it in a few weeks.
I waited forty years 1964--2004. This is not a joke.
Ordered in April 04 picked it up Oct. 04 one of the first 5000 built.

I will have a very long wait ahead of me. Ordered November 22nd, and have a minimum of 2 more months just to get scheduled, meaning about a total of 6-7 months.

How do you know you have a minimum 2 more months of wait time?

There are 6 people in front of me, and they only have a GT allocation of 3 per month. Also, they said ford was pulling some A & Z plans ahead of other people (Meaning that when an employee orders one, the sales manager is giving them a good priority number at this dealership). So that makes it a minimum of 2 months just based on the allocation numbers, then probably add another month because I am X plan and they love to stick people in front of me. I have been number 7 on the order list for at least a month, and thats even with the IUP clear-up. The only good news from this is that since my wait will be so long, I should have enough saved up by the time it will come in to buy a G35 coupe rather than the mustang

Ordered mine on 1/15/05. First build date was 1/24, now the dealer is telling me it was pushed back to 2-14 beacause of IUP delays. He tells me 1-2 weeks after build date to expect delivery. I wonder how reliable this estimate is.

still waiting.

I would have been suspicious immediately if a dealer quoted a build week 2 weeks after I ordered. Unless you might be getting a quick build date because it is a 6.
