Folks,

Not trying to be picky, but I have a keen ear for great live music (particulary Jimmy Bufett...hence the member name). Don't know why the Shaker 500 "picks apart the live tracks" like a jukebox does. My 2002 Mountaineer plays a live CD straight through without the annoying gaps. It's as if you're listening to a studio CD, where you expect to hear gaps between songs. Anyone else notice this?

Since delivery, 780 miles to date. This car screams for attention!

Same here, I listen to a lot of CDs that are supposed to be continuous but get broken up like that. Annoys the heck out of me. :bang: Gonna end up putting in an aftermarket stereo, cause there's been too many little things about the shaker I don't like. :notnice:

Has anyone figured out how to make a CD repeat? I can make one track repeat, but not the CD.

It really makes no sense at all. Not only is this "live CD breakup" a pain in the hiney, but what about only shuffling one (1) CD at a time? Again, it makes no sense in 2005, on a very good stereo system, to put up with this crap. I have never heard of any type of CD player breaking live CD tracks from a continous play CD. If if works flawlessly in my 2002 Mountaineer 6 disc changer, why are things so different on this long awaited car with such a good system? The top is down most of the time now, and I need tio hear Jimmy "un-interrupted!"

DO I search - I brought this up a while back - I listen to alot of concept records and the tracks run together - basically what I have heard is that there is no real 'fix' for this. No shuffling between CDs I can live with.... but this gap thing gets me &^$#@%^&$%@^#$ :bang:

Watch out for that STUPID Shaker system! My dads Shaker 500 skips and now drains the battery dead if any Cd's are left in the player! My dad is pretty ticked! Its been over a month since we ordered a new system and it is yet to arrive!!!! Anywho good luck!

Mine too! Man, it's annoying... also, I don't get why it can't continue playing a CD while it shuffles the others to load/unload. A $100 CD player at Walmart can do it!

OK, some of you guys are going to get pissed now. For a few reasons, I decided to get the base stereo rather than the shaker... I was afraid of the initial problems, $$$, and I didn't like the door subs. Now I have a forth reason, and this is what's upsetting. I just played Woodstock '94, a live CD... No gaps. Sorry guys.

Yup, with all the problems w/ the Shakers, there's nothing the aftermarket can't solve. Base stereo plus a/m changer... Base stereo plus a/m subs... etc. I've heard both the 500 and my base stereo. I added 1 subwoofer to my base stereo and have better sound for less money... plus no aggrivation w/ the Shaker problems such as gaps, kicking out cd's, etc. And cleaner looking door panels. Just my opinion. Yeah, I lost a little trunk space... but hey, it's a Mustang, not a minivan. Besides, the back seat's for storage... right???

Well, I haven't even bothered with calling Fordf Customer Service to see if there is a plan to replace the 500. I really like the system, it's just the annoying gaps between songs on live CD's. Just does not make sense. Should play continuously through. Has anyone heard of a "change out" due to this problem??

You won't get a "change out" due to this as it's a design feature, not a problem. The CD you are listening to is broken down into several tracks. The Shaker is automatically putting in that 2 second gap between tracks. It's not just on live CDs, if you listen to some of the Pink Floyd CDs or to Green Day's American Idiot, you'll see the exact same thing.

Nothing you can do other than replace the head unit with aftermarket to fix this one.

Even though I haven't had the bad disc, eating batteries etc problems with my Shaker, I still think it's one of the weak spots to the car. For the amount of money invested, Ford should have done a MUCH better job than this. :notnice:
