lights turning on/off

Anyone had this happen?? I'm working, drive by and see my fog lights and tail lights on. wtf, I say to myself. turn around, pull up next to it. its all locked up and while i was standing there, they turned on/off again.

i turned the car on/off and havent seen it happen again, but im wondering what the h#ll would make that happen.

Sound like something in the switch, or maybe a bad ground.

I came out to the garage on several occassions and started the car only to have the "trunk ajar" message. WTF?? I finally figured out I had hit the keyfob in my pocket while I was inside the house.

I wonder if something similar could be happening? Since you have an '08, the headlights turn on when you hit the lock button right?

Could be a Smart Box issue.

Check your passenger side floor board and feel around in there. Sounds like the water leak issue some people have experienced that causes erratic electrical problems.

I did check and it was dry as a bone. I took a few photos and added them to a thread in the warranty/issues forum. I dunno..Guess I will have to keep an eye on it.

I will be pi$$ed off if it is leaking. my 75 CJ5 didnt leak with a soft top, so this d@mn thing better not.

My Smart Box problems due to cowl water leak (fixed by my dealer prior to the roll out of the TSB) resulted in only a single tail light bulb (not the entire tail-light unit) or a single front marker light staying on with the car off and all other lights off. Never were all the bulbs in a unit or both sides on at the same time but I guess anything is possible.

If the fogs and tails flash with lock/unlock on the 08's (or an aftermarket alarm if you have one), I'd lean toward inadvertent key fob activation in a pocket.

What are the chances of cross frequency activation from an unrelated remote? My Bose remote used to activate my neighbor's Bose system...
