Leather Seating Surfaces

Is the

'Aberdean Embossed Leather-Trimmed Sport Bucket Seats'

option available on the GT Deluxe model for $695 different from the

'Sport bucket seats with leather seating surfaces'

that comes in conjunction with the Shaker 500 radio on the GT Premium (+$1,180)?
If so, why do they have different names, and does anyone have good photos of both?

Hopefully, everyone realizes that only the portions of the seat that you touch are leather - the sides and back are vinyl. Some companies - like VW, GM, and BMW call the seats in thie base models 'leatherette' - but it's still vinyl (like the leatherette on my '59 bug!)

I don't know what you mean by 'the portions of the seat that you touch'.

Otherwise known as "fine Corinthian leather".

Anyone know what a Corinthian is? I think I might have hit one on the road a few years back.

The very center section of the seats.....the parts with the perforated holes....is actual leather.

The side bolsters, sides and backs of the front seats are vinyl and the rear seat is totally vinyl (at least on the 'Verts).

You SURE about the forward surfaces of the side bolster area? My understanding is the entire front surface area, perforated or not, is leather (it certainly reacts like leather), and that it is just the sides, backs and ENTIRE rear seats that are plastic.

BC,

You are probably correct on the bolster area being leather too. Mine is sure developing the wear cracks like leather.

BTW, nice color choice

With good reason...the seats ar leather on the fronts, If you want entire leather seats there are plenty of after market seats

I'm quite happy with the seats as they are. I want to keep the car as stock as possible - with only a very few slight enhancements, mostly to correct Ford's oversights (i.e. retuning the engine...upgrading the tires...adding better headlight bulbs, etc.).

The sheer size of the aftermarket can make it pretty tempting, though, I will say that.

I think the trick is to cherry-pick the things you want without getting carried away.
