The only reason that I knew of this and this was because of my girlfriend - she used to put up the windows when cruising on the highway because it reduced her hair from flying all over the place, but she still got her sun, etc. When on rural streets she would put them down completely.

Yeah, I saw that. I assume "Sask." means somewhere in Canada. You're still talking about $35k US.

All of ya can bite me!!!! I always have the windows up on the interstate cause I have real choppy layers in my hair and no matter what... even w/ a hat on I get pieces that with that much wind end up loose and hitting me in the eyes. Its a GREAT feeling (sarcastic mode off) to be hit in the eyeball by hair.... and leaves you blinded for a good 30 secs if not more in one eye! ALSO when its oh like 100 degrees and humid if you put up the windows and turn the air on it feels great!
PS: Once I'm off the interstate the windows are down.

I can tell you I have only had windows up once with the top down. It was in April and we took the Vert for a day trip. When we left it was sunny and 78 degrees. We were out late and when sun started to set it got cold. I couldn't bare the thought of putting the top up, so we put the windows up and turned on the heat. It worked very well because were only about 20 mints. from home.
Now this summer we have the top down all the time. I have learned after of years of horse back riding. To keep hair out of eyes and mouths. Pull hair back to make a pony tail. Pin the sides down and were snug fitting sun glasses. This does the job.

K3druid, you won't get any sympathy from me. I spent 34 years of my life in North Dakota and had convertibles and they were always driven with the windows down when the top was down. I know exactly what a crosswind is like in a vert on the windy great plains.
And all the people I have seen with the windows up were on city streets, not on the highway.
I realize its your choice, I just wonder why buy a convertible if you're going to keep the windows up. I didn't realize there would be such a passionate response.

KC Tim; Its a pain, but everybody gets really good Health Care.
We've had Medicare for forty years and it works well.( not Perfect)
14% really hurts on a Car purchase.
I'm with DiamondBlue on this one.
At 12:53 AM I'm getting a little Grumpy.
BTW, In town today I saw 5 converts, 3 with Windows.
Mine wasn't one of them.

As the current owner of two convertible Mustangs and the previous owner of multiple other convertibles, I consider myself an expert on the proper use and even the etiquette of driving a convertible. What you may not realize is that there are certain ‘rules’ for window use when driving a convertible.
When driving with the top down at speeds over 80 mph, the windows should always be up. There’s just too much wind to be comfortable. Plus, I have lost several hats with the windows down at those speeds.
When driving on highways with posted speeds over 55 mph, window use is optional depending on the temperature. And also on whether your wife is riding with you!
At speeds less than 50 mph on highways and city streets, the windows should be down. Unless driving through some “bad” neighborhoods were you would want the windows up and the doors locked.
In Houston we only have two seasons – “summer” and “not summer”. But in other areas of the country where there are real seasons, it is permissible to operate either the heater or the airconditioner with the top down during the transition from one season to another.
Of course the windows should always be operated in pairs. (Unlike you coupe drivers who are often seen driving with only one window down. How lame is that?) It is permissible to drive for short periods with both front windows down and both back windows up. Except in the case of my older Mustang, the rear window switches operate only intermittently and sometimes the back windows won’t go down.
Of course, these rules can be varied somewhat depending on the age of the driver. Senior citizens are not expected to follow these rules.
I notice that you have a 2006 GT convertible on order. Congratulations, I know you will enjoy it. However, you will be expected to follow these established rules. We’ll be watching.
