Alright, not being directly involved (check out my location) I will take it upon myself to lighten up the mood a bit in this topic:

I say keep paying the troops but send them to bases in Italy and the south of France, issue them with scooters instead of Humvees and let them ride up and down beach roads all day, no helmet on, chatting up women and drinking wine in the evening shade while going "Ciao!" at complete strangers!

Bring on the flames if you can't take a joke.
