Just got a ticket for no front plate + tinted windows
$280 ticket, ****. It's a fix-it though so if I bring it to an inspection center and get the ticket stamped, I don't have to pay. My windows are 20% tint and cost a few hundred to have it put on. I am more concerned about the license plate, putting it on would require me to puncture the vinyl stripes. I know some people use a bracket, but I need ideas. Any suggestions?

+1 on the retractable license plate bracket. Although I haven't decided which one I like best yet, American Muscle has one for 10 bucks cheaper if you're trying to save cash on this.
I'm in the process of replacing my GT fascia with a CS, and we have front plates in VA too. I just like having the option of removing it at will. Personally I think front plates make little sense anyway, but that's just me.

In CT front plates are required but i do not have it on the front bumper, what I did was get some clipsand clipped it to the passenger side visor. When there is a cop around i flip it down and so far so good.
I happen to see a buddy of mine (a cop) had just finnished pulling a rice burner over so I asked what he was doing and he said he pulled him over for no front plate - my question to him is how come I dont get pulled over and he said "because you have a nice car" Guess he dosn't like rice. I have not had a front plate for 3+ years and never an issue - hope I don't jinx myself now.

Just FYI technically the visor is not legal either.. its supposed to be mounted on the front most point of the car. You are also not supposed to bend, alter, or cover the plate.
I think about the police that escort our cruise.. they would have a field day walking up the row of cars and handing out tickets

More proof they're purely for speed monitoring -- nice flat highly reflective vertical surface.

I got warned the second week I had my car. He says "Wheres the front plate??" I said "Here it is" and held it up from being on the floor behind the drivers seat. He says "It does me no good being in there". I said "But I don't want to mess up the near perfect face on this girl". He says "Put it on, if I see you again without it, you're getting the ticket".
Its on.
Its on.

Let's just say in every type of job there is ****** and regular guys. I think the generalization is a little harsh. I understand the frustration but I don't think the blanket rant to some of our members that might be cops is not needed.
Plus it's the cities that set the fine amount not the cop, I agree they don't have to write it but we all have to do stupid stuff that out boss tells us to do to keep our job.

The ballot box is the only place to change this -- think of who out there is constantly looking for increased revenue -- this is nothing but another tax on motorists, as are most speeding tickets, for that matter. WE are employing the police to take more money away from ourselves -- doesn't make sense.
And I agree about the "not all cops are bad" point, as well. My brother in law is a sergeant in Denver police vice, arrests pimps and meth dealers all the time. In Denver, at least, you have to VOLUNTEER to get into the traffic group. Those guys are a-holes, no doubt about it -- and everyone else in the department knows it, too.
What legit cop really wants to sit in his car pointing a radar gun, while irradiating his own genitals non-stop? Or stop some car enthusiast for tinted windows? Those cops can't do real police work, so they do this instead and get the great inflated ego of wearing the uniform. Ask them to do some real crime enforcement and they'd pee their pants.

+1 on these brackets. I have had them for about 4 years now. He makes them for different fascias. I have it on mine with the Roush fascia and it works great. Easy to remove at shows. Just have to remember to put it back on after the show!
