apparently here in Maryland, State Farm (and maybe others???) don't give discounts for anything unless factory installed and encoded in the vin. So whereas the safety/airbags would get a discount since they are encoded in the vin... it seems as if the anti-theft would not. But I guess I can't complain too much...my rates only went up $100 a year.

 

Living in MD I went with Liberty Mutual, they gave me a discount for everything...even my Masters degree. $1064 a year for 05 Mustang GT and 97 Probe GT.

 

Called my insurance company and my rates went up because I cancelled the life insurance policy I had with them.. Oh well.

 

no discount for anit-theft, but discount for side curtain air bags. (state farm, CA)

Yeah, the VIN tells the insurance company what kind of discounts are installed on your vehicle (airbags etc), but didn't include my anti-theft. Allstate gave me an additional discount when I called. I just had to go in and sign a paper stating that there was an anti-theft system on the vehicle.

 

On another note, my insurance only went up $70 per year after swapping my Mustang GT with my 1996 minivan!
