~*~*~*~ If I should have posted this somewhere else than feel free to move it.

Ok guys. I just 3 minutes ago got off the phone with the Ford Mtor Company Customer Relationship Center in MI about the IUP. The lady looked it up on the computer & said that it looked like the IUP was ADDED as an option on Sept 4. She also said that 70% of the orders had it & looked to be a major selling feature on the 05's. Andshe said that it wouldn't make sense for Ford to suddenly STOP offering it. So therefore, in her opinion she thinks that they WILL come equipted with the IUP.

On another note: She also said that if you have the order number & body number that you can call them & they can look up where your car is. They can tell you if it is on built, on the train, or on the truck or whatever. Also if you have the VIN you can call them & they can look it up that way too.

Hope this help ya'll. Cheers mates

Sounds like she just didn't know. Remember, in big companies the left hand never knows what the right hand is doing.

Also, order number? Each dealership uses its own order number system, that doesn't make sense.

And 70% is 20 higher than the number stated in the order guide.

I'm not trying to put your post down, just the information you were given doesn't jive.

She's right in saying it doesn't make sense to stop offering it. However, think about it logically. If you have 25,000 available IUP spots, would you give them to people buying the $20,000 car or the $25,000 car? They aren't stopping offering it, they are stopping production on a segment. If they had enough supply, they wouldn't stop. However, they don't and they have to do something. They chose to take the position that makes them the most money with what they have. Its just good business.

I would guess it says that because that was the day the 05 was added to the system, with job 1 being the 7th. I would guess all options will show as being added that day.

Ill take kerafaith info on this. At least he talked to someone at HQ not some local dealer.

Why would they stop? Its not like aluminum trim or aluminum colored paint is hard to find or make or apply.

Too many darn incorrect, unsubstantiated, and outright wrong internet rumors about the 2005 mustang.

I’ll believe a lady from ford at a call desk before I believe some guy who knows a guy who heard it on a message board from his friend who is an oil change guy for Joe Schmo Ford in BFE Arkansas. My ford dealer will still let you build a ford V6 and GT with the IUP and the ford web site also still lets you. People want to believe in problems, I have yet to see any evidence other than hearsay about it though. I’m glad we only get a totally new mustang every 25 years.

You could write a 5 page essay on incorrect info released and believed by people on the net. sub $20,000 GT, IRS, wheels, pricing, engine hp, performance, engine ability to be modified, ETC,.............................................. ......

Grantsdale the order number although made up by the dealer is unique to that car from the dealership. If you provide the dealership or there 5 digit code then the order number she can track that car to completion. I believe once the car is through the system that order number could be reused if they wanted.

AFAIK (having used to work at a Ford Truck Dealership) the dealer's own order number is never transmitted to Ford. Maybe its different at the car dealerships, but I doubt it.

new22003: The "rumor" was actually substaniated last week by 2mustangjohn. He works at AAI, and stated that the v6s with IUP weren't being built.

I'm assuming the order number from our dealer mine would be 001 for body type T82. Then my Dealer number would be 72512. All this information is on my DORA

So, What's the phone number?

I don't know about the order number being a dealer thing. All I know is that they look up you name & all the info with that when you call if you have ever called before. That probably has something to do with it.

And yes 70% is 20% more than the projected sales. But I disagree with you Grantsdale. I don't think it's good business. I think it really $hitty business. They make the same no matter what. The package costs the same on both the GT & V6 so...How are they loosing money?

If it were me & I only had 25,000 IUP spots then I would have decided before hand weither or not to offer it on both segments. And if something unknowly came up later that I ran out after 25,000 then I would not limit it to one segment after haveing 25,000 units pre-ordered. I would honor the first 25,000 ordered IUP units in good Faith.

Ford needs to take care of the pre-orders 1st. It's people like us who pre-ordered who are more likely to be loyal, lifetime customers. And if they **** enough of us off that we choose to take our business elsewhere than that's a big hit to Ford.

Besides How many test cars & pre-production show cars did Ford build with IUP just so they could crush them later. That was a waste. I'm not saying they shouldn't have made some of them to show us what was offered but not every single stinkin one.

Someone at Ford screwed up & that someone should be the one to pay through the teeth for it.

Sorry if I offended anyone but just because most are getting a GT does not mean that those of us who are less fortunate & are getting the V6 should have to step aside so you can get something I WANT when I ordered before you.

Forget the price of the IUP option. Take the cost of the car. Say ford makes $3000 off a v6 and $5000 off a GT. They can sell the GTs with the IUP and make $5000 each or the v6s with IUP and make $3000 each. Which do you think a company would go for?

As far as the "building to crush", they have to do that. The fed standards say they have to crush cars with the options included. The IUP is necessary for this because of the side airbags, which you can't get without the IUP.

Its a parts shortage. Its nothing they knew about in advance. In any business, when you run into a shortage of product, you are going to move it where you need it most. That would be where you have the most profit for the product.

Grantsdale, I assure you that you are wrong about the order number, and I can prove it . If you have an active DORA, just PM me and I will explain more.
