So what exactly does "27 Days Until 2005 Mustang Job 1" mean?
When they start production on the first stang?
When they finish production on the first stang?
When they start and finish production on the first stang?
When they make the first shipment?

I'm guessing it's, "When they start and finish production on the first stang?" ...that right?

It's when they begin production of vehicles to sell to the public.

When does job 1 end?

Is the first car Job 1 (and the second car job 2?)

Or is there a "run" that is Job 1, and then they issue a service pack (LOL) or the Ford equivalent...

Im just curious as to when:

1. The first set of Stangs will be shipped out to dealers close-by the plant (that is after all the pre-ordered ones go out first)

2. What date (or estimated date(s)) they will start appearing on lots in Northern California.

Job1 is when the cars start being MASS produced with regularity. I think they can actually produce 'for sale' cars prior to job1, but the line isn't up to full speed yet.

Job2 is a midyear model change....lets say fixes to the car, or certain options not available or added mid year cycle.
ie: the grille insert is added after the fact, in Feb/March 05
That could be a job2 change

Boomer,

In most cases, the line isn't at full speed at Job1

I know when I was interviewed at DC in February that they told me tyey still were not at 100%, 4 months after starting rollout.

No wonder they are having problems with getting all the 300C and Hemi Magnums out the door....

Pretty much standard fare in the auto industry, I am sure it will be the same with the Mustang as well, totally new car in a different plant.

Curious as to when they produce the cars for Canada. I know Ford Canada says the same thing as the US, available in Fall 2004, but I have yet to hear dates when they start making them. Just hope I get mine a few days before the snow falls.

I'm sure they will be on lots close to the same time as the states.

I am sure the Canadian cars will be going down the line the same time as the US, I don't think they will build a batch of canadian cars.

Other than the intrument cluster and the daytime running lights, I don't think there is any other difference.

The Canadian dealers I have been in touch with said their first batches of '05's come in late october.

Here is a useless tidbit.

Sportscenter's "job1" was on Sept 7 also. But that was back in 1979. They just had a clip from the first broadcast.
