You could use those scoops as old school air conditioning for the rear passengers.

LOL, the louvers dont look to bad on that pic. but i too like a none cluttered exterior unless they are functional. i am going to remove the side scoops on my 04 and get me a set like on the bullitts to smooth out the side

 

If it shot flames out the back, then would it be considered "functional"?

Or, maybe you could stick a mini Pratt & Whitney in there.

That'd lower your MPG for sure.
