Stoic... thanks foor reminding me about that... I wonder what the deal is with these doors? I would have to check into it, but how does the IUP affect the door inserts? Isnt the leather above the arm rest the same? I havent actually looked at a non-IUP 05, so I dont know the difference. I have seen pics, but nothing up close.

I believe that the non-iup inserts do not have a leather cover, when the company did the door inserts on the Iup with the leather already on there it would make the new cover pull off the edges when it got hot. They can make a much stronger bond to the plastic on the door than they can to the leather and there is less stretching. You might ask if they can just take off the old leather before they put on the color insert and you should be ok.

I think I read that the plastic on the door of the non IUP is harder than the IUP due to it having to work with the side air bags on the car (if equipped )

I think it is the same plastic it just attaches better on to the plastic rather that the leather. Plus the panel is thicker because it has already been covered once.

plus the plastic on the non-iup wouldn't be harder because the iup is required for the side airbags. The side airbags come out of the seat, not the door or roofline.

.... If I cant get sponsors, I will end up with something VERY close, most possibly without the mural because I wont be able to afford it........

As nice as the mural looks, I think it would look meaner with small airbrushed symbols in key spots, instead of the mural, very subtle, but effective. So from a distance you cant really see it but when you get close to the car, it has a whole new meaning. Just my very humble opinion .

and I totally love the purple th black paint.... you car is gonna ROCK!

I think some mods are fine, of course. I thought more were nice when I was younger, but I'm pushing 40 now. I'd like to do something to my black GT if and when I ever get it, but nothing major. I don't want it to look too juvenile, even though it is my proverbial mid life crisis car. I'm considering the stripes, but it might be too bold for me, I'm also considering rocker panel stripes, but haven't seen any I really like yet. I wouldn't get rocker panel stripes and the center stripes both, that is way too much as far as I'm concerned, so it'd be one or the other. I want the back and side windows tinted, but I feel something a bit more needs to be done, I just don't know what yet.

Oh and Jess,

I like the black between the taillights. I think I left that out previously. Also, maybe like someone said above to add just small symbols on the car with a ghost method would be possible. That way all they see are the clean lines that you and BM created with the shaved handles and.. ok not the front of the car, but the rest!

Until they get just the right angle to see the ghost images.

ok Rabbitt here is my .02. I love the idea and the color, personally I wouldnt go with the mural I think it is way sick without it and definately enough to stand out and be one of a kind, but if I may give a suggestion for another way to do the mural would be either a ghost image or something that wouldnt be ghost but in a multi-tonal purpal mural kind of what the lowriders do. I have several examples I can show you if you would like. And there is a guy in Vegas that does the import cars with murals like that and he is wicked good, if your into that thing. He did the pink one in Too Fast Too Furious and a couple of other really sick imports that are in all the mags and shows, I have a pic of this blue one he did that was actually featured once in CSI that is considered to be his best work. I think that would be perfect if you were to do a mural, because it wouldnt draw away from the crisp cleaness of the car and colors. The two tone is perfect. And that interior would be tight with the My Color Gauges set to purple. I wouldnt add any more purple to the inside though then you would start to look a bit ricey IMO. But great job I cant wait to see it. Now for under the hood you need to get that Typhoon intake from K&N and have it powder coated purple. And do some other highlights of purple here and there under there as well. If that manifold cover is possible to get done that I told you about, I will have them make you one as well and you can have it done in purple as well that would be sick. Let me know about getting the mods done for the engine, Surfn and I are going to JBA this weekend and he is planning on getting Springs, Tuner, and gears done.

rrobello, as soon as K&N can fit me in, I will be getting that Typhoon. I am SO STOKED about it! Purple powder coated sounds perfect!

I have been thinking about the ghost images. I hope Burningman isnt reading this and thinking :bang: that thing took forever! LOL I am going to take the high res version of it and print it off and frame it, it is one killer mural.

Just gimme a call on the perf mods. We gotta get moving on it, I want to send in all the specs to Ernie at 3D ASAP.

Thanks!

What do you think about the multi tonal purple mural with some black in it for definition, just another option to the ghost images, both would be sick. I think I would personally go with the ghost because it would be harder to see, but thats me.

Oh man, that is the worst thing I've ever seen.

I kid, I kid! (Said in a bad impersonation of Triumph the Insult Dog)

That is sweet . . . and I love the interior. I'm imagining the car in Sonic Blue by the way.

A big on the C-pillar vents.

Love the color and the mods.

Ok the mural makes me think of a 70's dodge van from some movie set in California. Hey you could put a pentagram on the hood from an ol' Rush album!

I think some ghost flames done in sliver fade to black would look great. Though about doing that myself with my Sonic Blue.

Then again I though about putting a Starsky and Hutch stripe on it to make it my own.

ARE U KIDDING??? I'm gonna be sick! STOP with these pics (missing my car)!

Jessica, that car will OWN HB (ok, maybe we'll have to share number 1). Can't remember if you said the wheels are what you're putting on, but if they are, holy cow!

Can't get my head around the mural (but then, who gives a sht what I think ), but the color/styling mix is just "wow".

Timescale? On time for the street party???

celticstanger, I am hoping for those wheels... everything hinges on the sponsors and what we can come to an agreement on.

I give a poo what EVERYONE thinks. I love the mural, but, I thinking I am going to have to go without... I will wanna win shows with the car if I get sponsored, and I am thinking I wont with the mural.

There is NO WAY I am going to be able to have it done by the Street Party. The paint job was estimated to take about 8 weeks alone. Even if I get it in tomorrow, wont be long enough.

I am hoping to get a sponsor within the next 3 months, and having it finished within 6 months. So, maybe for Rays first birthday. I will have to have a big party for her!
