I talked to a salesman today who said that the interior upgrade and side air bags are on hold and cannot be ordered. Just so happens those are the two options I want. Have I found another pathological liar?

Technically your salesman is correct, IUP is on "Materials hold"

The problem is that more people are ordering the IUP than Ford planned. Ford has sent a memo to dealers saying that they are limited to only so many cars with IUPs. (IIRC dealers can only order 50% of their Stangs with IUP option).

I would guess that the side airbags have the same issue.

The good news for Ford is that more people are ordering options than Ford thought would, which means profit on 05 Stangs will be higher than Ford thought. The good news for us is the more profit on the Stang, the more money gets put into future Stang development.

The bad news is that if you really want these options you will have to wait longer for your car.
