Nice Find.

That would have been one of the last names I would have thought they would resurrect.

Here I go again. .

Nice. Now what's it mean. Is Ford just getting all it's ducks-in-a-row before introducing the Cobra?

OK, you heard it from me first. Not that I like fast trucks. But, the Triton Force listed on that same trade mark list will be the next lightning. Here's my list:

Triton Force - 2007 lightning w/5.4 supercharger (I know they say it's dead, but will see)
Shelby Cobra - 2007 Shelby Cobra w/5.0 cammer (gutted just like GTr but street legal)
California Special - 2007 GT/CS w/4.6 supercharger produced by SVT
Mustang GT - 4.6 engine
Mustang - 4.0

I'm not a fan of the lightning, but It'll make many people happy. If you get into the svt website (dosn't always pop up the correct way/need to see mountains on top) they say new and exciting things are about to happen.

Triton Force may have nothing to do with SVT. It could be the name of a new and improved Triton V8. I know we all heard that "Hurricane" is dead but maybe not.

I agree.

And I got excited for a moment looking at some of the other Ford Trademark names . . . until I realized they were for AU & NZ.

Here's a commercial from the 60's for the GT/CS mustang. Might show what some of the looks of a new GT/CS would look like. I think John Kerry is in the add. I wonder if he has his flip flops on. Get it, Flip Flops.

Here's the link to the site. Then towards the top of the page is a link for the commercial. Funny stuff.

Might be that they felt the sting from the GT40 (remember that Ford found out that GT40 was owned by someone else?) and are moving to protect their assets...

Maybe it's just me, but "California Special" sounds whack! How well did they sell back in the day? It's not as revered a name like BOSS. I hope they just stick to selling them in California :notnice:

I think it's pretty cool. I like the GT/CS name. Something different. We've seen the Boss, Bullitt, Cobra, SE, SVT, Mach, GT. What am I missing? Anyway, it's just something different. If they are keeping with the retro theme, the GT/CS sure fits. Just my opinion.

A few weeks back, wasn't the grill that was posted (that magically disappeared) supposed to be for the upcoming California Special?

Seems like an odd choice being that all the original California Specials were coupes.

I don't see why Ford would make a new California Special because first of all Ford didn't originally produce them, they were all special dealer package cars sold in California as was the similar High Country Specials and all the other promotions that a lot of dealers created. And secondly I don't see too many people outside of California really caring to rush out and buy a "California Special" Mustang.

where's the Boss at? or at least a luxury Grande package....

I'd love to see Ford bring back the GT/CS. I have a silver '05 GT now, but I might have to give it up if a new California Special comes out. Here's a pic of the one my dad and I restored.
