Has anyone compared what they would pay for insuring a 'vert vs. a coupe? Is there a big difference?

I'm 43, perfect driving record.

So, before I call my insurance agent, I thought I'd ask here. (I have Nationwide insurance for my F150)

Am I going to pay a lot more for insurance for a convertible than a coupe? If so, how much (ballpark) more?

Since I'm asking only for people that did the comparison, that should (hopefully) take most of the variables out (age, gender, etc.)

I'm paying $265.50 for six months for my F150 (full coverage), BTW.

Call your insurance agent and get a quote on the Coupe and the Vert. It only takes a few minutes over the phone and then you will have your answer!

Yup, I agree. I emailed them tonight but thought I'd ask if anyone compared their rate between a 'vert and a coupe, just to get an idea what I'll be up against.

Its been several months since I called and got quotes, but I don't recall there being a huge difference between a hard top and a vert. Wish I could remember....I'm still in shock that when I traded in my trusty 03 civic for the 05 convertible Mustang that my insurance went down instead of up....good luck to you!

I've had insurance with Nationwide for 12 years and they were going to go up to $125 a mth for the 05 GT Vert from $68 for the 00 Vert (I'm 30 w/ a clean driving record.) I dropped them and went with Progressive.

When I checked with my insurance company on the change in premium from my 2000 V6 Mustang to the 05 coupe or Vert the increase was $115 every 6 months for GT coupe and $185 every 6 months for the GT vert. When I finally called this week to add my new 05 GT Vert the increase was $259 every 6 months. I am in the same general category with you as far as insured driver. 39 year old male, safe driving discount, multiple car discount.

State Farm. Before I ordered my car in December, I called them to get a quote on an 05 V6 vert. At the time, the only rate info they could give me was on the GT vert and even that was less than the insurance on my little civic... go figure Have you found oujt anything from your insurance company?
