Installed Barton short throw shifter

Just installed the Barton short throw on my 07 GT. This thing is a top quality build, looks awesome too! Huge difference from the stock shifter, it does seem a little notchy and stiff. I'm hoping that works itself out with a little break in time.
I am getting more noise in car since the install. I don't know if it was my reinstalling of the dust boot but it is annoying. I'm going to take out the console and check the dust boot is in correctly, I'm also going to pick up some sound proofing fabric and secure it around the shifter opening.

The Barton looks like a quality shifter. Do they not come with some sound proofing material? My MGW came with some Dynamat & a piece of insulation that helps a lot with noise.

I have a Barton shifter and didn't notice any noise issues. Mines a bit notchy too, but EVERY aftermarket shifter I ever tried (steeda, hurst, mgw) was notchy since the OEM part uses that squishy bushing, and aftermarket shifters have something a bit more solid.

No sound proofing material came with it. I'm gonna pick something up and see if I can quite it down.
It's definitely a solid piece of equipment, the stock shifter looks real cheap next to it.

Barton got rid of the one feature that I thought gave it the nod over the MGW. The adjustability of the throw from the inside of the car. They use a fixed throw percentage now. Huge thumbs down for me. Other then that it is a quality piece.

Got the Dynamat extreme and removed console and dust boot. Cut and layered the mat everywhere in the space around shifter and under console. Put dust boot back in and did some wrapping around it, being careful not to interfere with shifter movement. Huge improvement, quieter than before the new shifter. The Barton is awesome and much improved over the stock! Love it!
