Wow, I don't see how you guys get such low mileage in the city! I don't baby my car but I don't race from stoplight to stoplight either, and have no problem averaging around 18 MPG in mostly stop-and-go, all under 50 MPH traffic.

Do you have 3.31's or 3.55's? Not sure how much a difference that makes..

I don't have a trip computer, but I do have Progressive's TripSense that monitors your speed and distance that you drive. Based on that data, along with my fuel economy data, I have determined that city driving yields 17 MPG and highway driving yields 27 MPG. I have the optional 3.55s, and I cruise on the highway at 70 MPH w/ the A/C running full blast during the summer. I use Meijer 87 octane fuel, and the car is stock except for the stuff listed below (none of which would affect MPG).
Bottom line: Hot ****, I don't see any reason to downgrade to some Prius POS.

So I decided to drive up to my parent's house in Lehighton, PA which is about 72 miles from my house in Philly. I took the Northeast Extension going up and I was averaging about 70mph they whole way and averaged about 24mpg's with cruise control off, A/C off and the windows down. On the way back to Philly tonight, I threw on the CC and left it on 55, had the A/C off and had the windows down. I was stunned. I averaged 32 MPG's!!!!! I even rest the CPU a few times, just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. Typically, I notice increase in MPG when going south on the Northeast Extension because the majority of it is downhill, but 32mpgs with a V8 motor that also a 93 Race tune is unbelievable.

I'm pretty sure it measures fuel used. It's no more or less accurate than the fuel pump and tripometer.

I have only put 1,000 miles on it since July of 08. A good chunk was going/coming to Virginia Beach and back. I have about 12,000 on her now...not too shabby for a 16 month old car. She's been sitting as I drive my daily driver 2004 Ford Focus ever since I picked her up in June of 08. I still have some mods sitting that I haven't had a chance to finish yet. I just recently installed a brand new audio system in there. Pioneer AVIC-F900BT, Polk Audio front and rear speakers and a MTX ThunderForm4500 for the trunk. It's badass. Before the summer, I should have Long Tube Headers and the FRPP Hot Rod Cams in there.

I am consistently in the 19mpg range, decent driving mix (not all stoplights, but not all highway either). That is tuned, with 4.10's, wide/heavy tires, and a heavy right foot atleast once per trip.
As far as the questions about the car's mpg reading, I keep track of my gas in a spreadsheet and compare manually calced mpg to what the computer says. The computer averages .1 of a mpg worse than actuals.

I consistently average around 21 duing the week and I live in dallas,I drive a lot on the highways and dont hit too much traffic. On the last 3 road trips I have taken (2 from dallas to austin and 1 from dallas to houston) I averaged 29-31 mpg on the highway. Cruise set at 73-75. I have the 89 torque tune in it right now and JLT.

Mods below, AC off, 91 octane, 70-75mph... computer reads 22 mpg.
Not bad considering.
