I saw my first 05 today
Ok im just a kid but I've been a mustang fan for my hole life and I've been watching the 05 since I saw concept drawings in a mustang monthly a few years ago. Today i was near the dealership (closed) and peeked in the window to see a black GT. I hope I get the chance to get test driven (only 14 need to be 16) in one soon. Also while I was standing there looking at my future car, and custodian looking at me, i thought why any of you guys would modify a Ford masterpiece.
And dont get me wrong, you have to have options, paint, rims and tires you want but come on keep it stock. isnt that one thing you look for in a classic mustang? well keep it stock for when your children and you childrens children want an 05, the first of the bad boys. Just be rational and dont rice them up!
You have a couple of things I thought I'd point out for ya:
Ok, I'm
Mustang
whole
Mustang Monthly
I
14, need
Also,
I
"Why
masterpiece?"
And then on your second post:
Don't
options:
want. But
on, keep
Isn't
Mustang? Well,
your children's
Other than that, I absolutely agree with you Boss. One should never stray outside the lines. Toe the line as it were. Conform to what everyone else does.
Oh, ok, you got me. I'm lying. Even my classic Mustang I built wasn't stock when I got it, nor was it even close to stock when I let it go. Why? 'Cause it was *my* car. You can see for yourself below.
When I get my new Mustang GT, whenever the heck that is, you can bet I want it to be the way I want it. I like certain cues of the V6 better than the GT, and certain color combinations better too. Ford doesn't offer it, so I will just have to do it myself. It's not to be unique or rice, it's to make it my car the way I want it, and make ME happy.
So the side badges will be gone, the rear emblem will be changed to the V6, the grille will be swapped and the white with black cloth interior will be changed to look like the ICAP, but with cloth. Or red inserts, I haven't decided yet. Or I may get a white with tan cloth interior and have it painted Emberglo. And do the other stuff. 'Cept the seats, tan would be fine.
You too will learn the ways of the Modding Force. Just wait. And that test drive? Sounds like you can do it in a couple of years... Dealers seem to have issues with the age of the people driving the car...
But hey, things happen! Good luck on that test drive, Boss!
/just playin' around about your posts... I couldn't resist. I'm weird. But they like me here...

I see where you're coming from, Boss. The classic Mustangs are always worth more when kept in stock condition. Why? Because most people modified them! Modifying a car made it personal, which was part of why the Mustang was/is so popular. The options list back in '64-'66 was so extensive that no one bought one without options. But then people continued to make the car their own by personalizing it. It's tough to be an indivudual when they made a couple of million of those original cars. But who wants someone elses personalized car? It's always easier to start with a factory original which appeals to everyone. Most people will probably not modify their '05 beyond a point of no return. You can always replace stock parts. Those who go whole hog on theirs will give us neat ideas, something to dream about, and something we enjoy looking at, even though WE wouldn't have done it THAT way. These people aren't worried about re-sale value, but how boring would it be if we all drove similar cars? So don't worry, there will be plenty of stock masterpieces left when you get to drive. I must agree wholeheartedly with you on one thing, though: Don't rice it up!
Just curious. Where'd you get your interest? Family, magazines, friends, or you just like Mustangs?

Just adding to this thread. I saw my first one in person the other night. A black V6 premium. Had all the options I want, plus the leahter seats, just not the right color. I was amazed at how much better it looked in person. I didn't think it was possible to look any better then in the pics, but they do it no justice now that i saw it. What got me the most was how "deep" the gauges were in the dash, I loved how they looked. When the salesman gave me the key to start her up I felt like a kid driving for the first time again, amazing. I also was surprised at the sound at startup. It had a nice little growl which was more then I expected. Cannot wait till I get mine.
Just to answer your quetion Blackafter, My dad owned an 86 mustang when i was really little but when we moved across Canada we had to leave it so i was lost to the BMW's and Porche's but then my dad got a 1973 coup (ram air) and restored it for 9 years being done this past summer. And i have more Mustang monthlys then any of you have ever eaven seen. So I've always liked the classics and when i saw the 05 it was like a match made in hevan seeing how in three years when most are off their lease and I'll be just getting on my own I might be able to ****** up an 05 for a resonable price.

I too saw my first '05 in person today. They look sooo much better in person! I saw a screaming yellow GT and a legend lime GT. I wanted to hide my '99. I love that stout, muscular stance
I won't be getting mine 'til around spring of "05 though
